Typical Sunderland

It’s not typical Sunderland at all.

It’s typical Sunderland while these small time, corporate chancers that have been in place for about 1% of the clubs existence, are here.

If those proposals had gone through no club would ever have got close to challenging a top 6 place again. It would have harmed the game in England hugely - all so some American hedge funders and the odd sheikh and oligarch could hoover up the majority of the money in the game without really having to worry about a challenge to their top 6 position.

Fundamentally flawed short term proposals that would have seen generations of supporters lost locally everywhere outside of Man U Liverpool Man C Chelsea Spurs and Arsenal.

The fact Rodwell and Donald back those ideas against the wishes of 99% of the whole football community and the Safc supporter base basically proves they are not fit for purpose at a club like Safc if anyone was still having lingering doubts.

They can only run it like a below average lower league club - its beyond their capabilities to do anything else. It would have made selling the club virtually impossible as well which is pretty concerning, I think.

No academy and a smaller stadium would have been on the agenda within a couple of years as well if that power grab had been successful.

Thank you for that post.

I meant typical Sunderland as putting our foot in it.

This project big picture thing has been unanimously rejected by the premier league clubs.

Which I can only assume means the people who spent time putting it together have rejected their own proposal.

What a clusterfuck.

It does seem a bit strange. I just hope it's not been done to pave the way for some other kind of unnecessary reform.

I lived in a small Lincolnshire village and unigate put planning in for 60 sites with 100,000 bird sheds with 10 sheds on each site it got rejected so they put planning in for 50 sites but with a lot of the sites on the edge of the villages it was rejected so they accepted 40 sites with the nearest site 1 mile from any village and the villagers were dancing with joy and having bbq’s I wonder what unigate wanted to begin with?<laugh>

English Football League clubs have rejected the Premier League's proposed £50m rescue package for League One and Two clubs, saying it "falls some way short" of the required amount.

Top-flight clubs made the offer after deciding not to pursue Project Big Picture.

On Wednesday, the Premier League said talks about how to help the Championship are ongoing.

The EFL said any settlement "must meet the requirements of all 72 clubs".

Have I missed something? What I read was Rodwell was cautious about this, thought it had some merits but didn't agree with all of it. Has more been said by him?
