I like the lad. He was willing to play through the pain earlier with that shoulder injury when he probably shouldn't have and always gives 100%, I know he divides opinion but he will start at Wembley, without a doubt. He does a huge amount of the 'unoticed' stuff on the pitch, I bet he is someone who his teammates absolutely love to have in their side but it doesn't always catch the eye of people watching.

Will have to be careful if VAR is used on Saturday. He does a lot of.. shall we say, niggly stuff.

Totally agree, but all 11 of their lot will have to be careful as well, and I'm not convinced they all will be. We will try to play the game properly and that ****housery type stuff doesn't really come naturally to us which should mean VAR helps us more than them.

Edit: that probably means the feckers won't use it for our game. <laugh>

This is the thing. We are the form team. We are very hard to beat, we find ways to snatch wins from draws and draws from defeats. Alex Neil will absolutely normalise this game as just another 90 mins. That is absolutely what we need

I'm very confident. And that worries me

Am I on the right lines here?

Adding Club Wembley and a few hundred speculative purchases in the Wycombe section we've now probably sold around 50,000 tickets. There are loads waiting for general sale and less than 300 Sunderland tickets possibly available.

In the meantime Wycombe are advertising the fact they've only sold around 16,000 tickets with General Sale starting 10am on Monday. There are no restrictions whatsoever and each person can buy two tickets. The 16000 so far will no doubt include Sunderland who are inadvertently pushing up Wycombe's sales and possibly allocation.

IMO it would only take a couple of thousand Sunderland, in the Wycombe General Sale section, to present possible problems. If they're all in one block they'll quickly become known to each other and become more boisterous. A few scattered around would sit on their hands, a couple of thousand won't especially as they're likely to be lads who don't care where they are.

Is this a balls up and who's to blame?

The fact they (their chairman) have advertised that anyone at all can buy tickets in their next phase is going to cause problems.

We have about 150 tickets left for general sale Monday, so naturally the next step for those SAFC fans that miss out is Wycombe's general sale, I can easily see 1000 plus SAFC fans in with Wycombe.

It won't be hard to work out if their sales suddenly rocket up Monday

If they're selling GS in only one section that's an open invitation for Sunderland ...

... some bunch will get in early, stick a flag up, everyone coming in will flock to it and not want to move.

That's what I'd do and what I'd imagine happening.

If their blocks closest to our sections start selling quick then they will be guaranteed Sunderland fans. If it was me I'd be looking there first

I'D definitely heard 9am for our GS but am wondering if the EFL swiftly changed it.

Just checked our general sale is 10am as well, so Wycombe's tickets will start flying out by 10.10 at the latest

Their chairman, announcing that absolutely anyone could buy tickets, was idiotic.

No doubt he'll point the finger at us if it goes awry.

I agree keep the ball on the ground and play around and through them hopefully var may be used as I think it may stop some of their rough tactics especially at free kicks and cirners

I agree pretty much as I do think if players from wide attack the box there may well be a rash challenge resulting in a penalty and hopefully a few free kicks as well. My prediction for the match is 3-0 as I think the big pitch favours us.

Not sure about VAR, one way or the other tbh. Watched the Luton / Huddersfield game last night and the all in wrestling at corners and free kicks was ridiculous. We unfortunately need to be well prepared for more of the same, as no action is coming from those in charge.
