Let's have a look at the facts guys, not pie in the sky wish lists that centre on some survey done 4 years ago to assess what supporters wanted.

Just ask what exactly have you got? Answer - a resounding **** all.

A piece of paper like a letter to father Christmas setting out the preferred choice that probably any supporter in the land would ascribe to. Everybody would like to retain the old style of ground with a mixture of terracing and seats that resound to the crowd noise - it's so bloody obvious, and you lot think you've just re-invented the wheel.

You preach from your lofty pedestal with your supercilious (that means haughty disdain for you bog dwellers) attitudes that make you look so crass. At the same time you watch your football, if that's what your call it, from a derelict edifice that would be better off with Semtex rather than redevelopment.

Ashton Gate be ****ed - more like Cow and Gate with it's occupants let out of their prams spitting out their rusks at the success over here. You're coming across like a bunch of nursery candidates.

Not all of you admitted, but even Wizey has to resort to posting images with pathetic comments on the thread in an attempt to rabble rouse the occupants, and what do we get - more bloody rusks flying everywhere......<laugh>

In the meantime, you carry on watching a bunch of no-hopers hoofing it into League One at a gallop, from a collection of sheds better suited to the third world you occupy, with yet another manager tasked with the impossible, by an owner who ****ed off to Guernsey to count his dosh.

As far as I can make out the argument from Wales point is that Vincents stadium is the benchmark for modern design.

If every club in the land surveyed their fans, and as the argument from Wales says every fan in the land would prefer to do something different to Vincents stadium they would be wrong, all of them. Not only that they would be bitter, jealous, ignorant and stupid bog dwellers.

You're obviously an intelligent and articulate person who, as you say yourself "is living the dream" with your team destined for the Prem and playing in a brand new stadium (no matter what anyone thinks of it).

What I want to know though is whether you are truly happy with the way your new owners "bulldozed" their way through the history and traditions of the "Bluebirds (?) to get their own way?

With the manager and team you had at the start of the season you were always going to be there or thereabouts so why change what has gone before other than for their own self indulgence?

I know it probably will never happen, but I really don't know how I would feel if new owners came to AG (got to say that Cow & Gate did make me smile!) and decided to change our strip to blue against all local opinion and just for the sake of it.
 
Liked this from elsewhere. City can modernsie and progress but retain the things that got us down or some of us in the first place.


I now want AG redeveloped, whilst AV is now merely a decent back up plan in my eyes. Playing Red Malay fc has had a two fold effect on me:
1. Stadium.
2. club's soul.
Now, I'm no newcomer to the blandbowl situation. I've been to many identikit over the years, and though some are better than others (cardiff city = bad, Ricoh = ok), they still all conform to certain generic laws/rules, and all contribute to the sanitation/dumbing down of our wonderful game, no matter how hard they try not to. AV is an example of a good identikit, but identikit nonetheless it remains, no matter how things are dressed up.
Secondly, one main reason why I accepted the move to AV was to 'further the club'. But what does that actually mean? It is by no means in the same bracket as what had taken place at Ccfc, but it certainly signifies at least the first step on that road. We all want our club to be successful, but to what end? I'm not sure I want make the sacrifices needed to become an established Premier League side, or even a yo-yo club. Retaining the tradition, match day experience and above all keeping the soul of the club intact must rank above all else.
Yes, we need to remain financially stable in light of recent losses and ffp, but if we can do this at AG - as the board are now indicating is possible afterall - then why not?
My other reservation was that rebuilding AG would simply result in it merely becoming an identikit itself, one which would be inferior to AV in almost every way. What would be the point? Might as well move, and save the fond memories of the place as it should be... But, having re evaluated the situation, I'm not convinced this will be the case. The small foot print of AG would actually quite ironically be our saviour as it dictates that the redevelopment will be tight, steep and compact - all conducive to a decent natch day experience (just seen the typo but I like it so it shall stay!)
Anyway, there you have it. Rambling a bit now! Bed time me thinks.

To Mods or anyone else interested;
Should we now be putting our thoughts on the revamp of the Gate into coherent points and sending it to the club as representing the view of the Not606 members.

We seem to be pretty well agreed that the number one concern is about the need for good accoustics in the rebuilt stands. Other points appear to be less important but still need to be clearly stated;
toilet and refreshment facilities.
decent wheelchair positions in each of the stands and not at worms eye level.
seat size and legroom.
Plus any more we all want included.

RR TC - good question and a fair one.

Was I and many others "happy" with the TG and VT takeover of the club? - Yes.

Was I and many others "happy" about the re-branding and colour change? - No.

Did we have any other choice given our parlous financial situation - Not really, we could have just sunk beneath the waves.

We've got new life in the club, and whatever spin you want to put on it - the supporters are what counts.

Without them, we could well have gone out of existance altogether, or opted for admin like you and Swansea did (twice). Nothing wrong with that legally, but morally an easy opt out whereas with all our past difficulties, we're paying our way out of them.

Must go back out again - the sheep are getting restless and the viagra will wear off before long......<laugh>

Yes. i am not that articulate or cohesive but the point I think that needs getting over to city is that grounds like cardiffs can have a real negative impact on how good a fans day out is before a ball is kicked. the sound is all wrong because it is designed that way. grounds like that work against vocal support not with.

I have had a cursory look at the clubs website. It mentions consultation, but not how it will work.
 
Just heard another tale, apparently the new owners of the franchise are giving out F.O.C red scarves to all Bluebirds tonight to indoctrinate them even more into the sell-out of their colours..

A thought, I wonder if these scarves were made in the UK or a low wage factory in Asia that the owners have an interest in..

Good to see some of you getting back to the constructive thread of what will happen with your ground. I honestly hope it can be sorted out and put in place as soon as possible. Despite all the "banter" etc which has gone on it can only be best for a city like Bristol to have a good team at Championship or even better level.

Why not have Swansea, Cardiff and Bristol City in the Prem in good quality (despite the views of many on here about CCS) grounds? Less travel and more local rivalry to keep up the sort of keen interest we have seen in the last week. <ok>

A few final points on our ground. You don't like, up to you, your opinion to which you are entiltled. However, our previous parlous financial state is no secret and in some respects we are lucky to still have a team at this level in a modern ground with all necessary amenities. Unfortunately good old Ninian failed to qualify on many levels and a rebuild was not an option as the ground was owned by the council. In fact the sale of the land on which Ninian was built to Redrow for development was what helped finance the build of the new ground (there is actually a monument in the middle of the houses where the centre spot was at Ninian) as well as the retail development to the west of the ground.

However, despite all the external funding raised by the above projects, the amount of money available for the new stadium was limited - a new athletics stadium had to be built to the north and all the road infrastructure had to change to accommodate all of this. As a result the stadium we have as what could be afforded and even then there were some cutbacks on the original plans. You will recall that Pistol Pete Ridsdale was Chairman at the time, having ousted Sam Hammam, and he used his consumate financial skills (<yikes>) to get all this done as best he could. The undersoil heating needed wasn't installed and the specialist mobile lighting needed to help the pitch grass grow all year round was purchased.

Sparkey has alluded to the fact that if the Malysians had not come in we might not be where we are today or even still around - HMRC seemed to be permanently camped on our doorstep.

The arrival of the Malaysians enabled the club, over time, to deal with all pressing problems, fund the purchase of whatever was needed to improve the stadium, on and off the pitch, and more recently fund the improvement to the management and team to enable us to sit comfortably (for now at least) at the top of the Championship with every hope of being in the prem next season.

In total the owners plan to pump £100m or more into the club. Yes, they have their own agendas and didn't get where they are today by throwing money down the drain. They see great marketing and promotional opportunities in the far east and will certainly want to make their money in the longer term.

The vast majority of Cardiff fans recognise this and the commitment given. The changes may not sit comfortably with everyone but at the end of the day we are supporting Cardiff City and have waited over 50 years to get another stab at top flight football. You have been here more recently so will know what that feels like.

So putting all banter and WUM's aside that is where we are with a very positive outlook. If we go up we will need to bring in a number of players of higher quality to stay in the Prem and the owners may need to dig a bit deeper in the summer. I hope you can get it all together to follow us up in the future.<ok>

No one on this side of the Severn is going to deny that you're the pick of the bunch of teams in what is an otherwise very even and fairly unpredictable division, and that your almost certain promotion will be well deserved.

The way your owners have gone about things and the change of colours for CCFC is however a sad reflection that money calls all the shots in football these days. The folk of Newcastle will testify to this fact when their owner wanted to rename St James Park as the Sports Direct Stadium or some such nonsense. Luckily perhaps, the general outcry from far and wide made Mr Ashley reconsider just how far you can push fans and the need to protect teams identities and from where they came.

So would I endure a foreign owner coming into BCFC and wanting changing our colours ? Not willingly no is the honest answer. If the promise of a season or more in Premiership change my view ? Maybe, but again not willingly.

You could have just stopped there. People have been quite specific in what they do not like about it. The pictues tell a story, not that his nibs would accept it. Last pic shows how cavernous it is which explains where the sound goes. No need to ape that at all. Won't harm the club either not doing it v making football a bit crap like it was saturday. The noise in the away end was decent, but nowhere near good enough to change views of many. The home support told a story. Big no thanks to that.
