The G7 has been described as G6 + 1, which helps explain Trump’s early exit as that maths was way too complex for him.

I am perplexed by America. Vance was stating yesterday that the America First policy orevails and this means no interference in foriegn military intervention that has no bearing on rge US. By the evening Trump has convened a govt meeting to discuss assisting Israel bomb Iran.

I think we should impose sanctions on Israel and US.

The US is just a proxy state for Israel at this point.

"As of end of June 2025, the UN reports 55,000 Palestinians have been killed, with nearly 70% of verified victims women and children "

"At least 100 children have been killed every day since the resumption of hostilities in March 2025. Since the war began, approximately 17,800 children have been killed with many more injured or displaced."

There is also this report, that states Israel bombing caused "largest single day" death toll for children past year.

Sources from BBC, Al Jazeera and Save The Children.

Bear in mind this is mainly verified reports and, the total is going to be higher, especially with aid being blocked and bombs still being dropped. We hardly see what's happening now as the main talk is about Israel/Iran. Absolutely horrific, our country (UK) make weapon parts and fly surveillance aircraft over Gaza and report back to Israel. Politicians and people who agree with this are complicit in an ongoing Genocide.

That being said, health conditions such as pretern birth complications, pneumonia, diarrhoeal conditions, malaria, malnutrition, etc (all of which are treatable, but we don't live in a just world) cause millions of children's deaths annually; in 2023 approximately 4.8 million children under 5 died worldwide.

I won't go in to child slavery, but that's another factor to consider; I'm using a phone in which materials are sourced by that. Pretty much everyone reading this is...

Anyway, I'm all for protest and standing up for your rights. But let's try and keep the truth the truth and not turn in to an echo chamber.

Right, I've got to go to work!

??? That's quite a leap based on the exchange.
While it is an exaggeration to say that Israel kills more children than anything else, it’s still true they have killed an awful lot of children in Gaza. Don’t forget 75% of the population of the Gaza Strip is aged 24 or younger. That was the point of my post, which was fairly obvious.

Puck couldn’t wait to point out the inaccuracy of the meme, good for him.

I don’t think anyone is saying it isn’t dreadful, but to be fair to Puck, I think it’s reasonable to expect we can be horrified without resorting to inaccurate hyperbole, otherwise we’re all becoming Os in a different wig.

That’s fair comment. I shouldn’t have posted that meme as it was an opportunity for distraction from the brutal reality.

Yeah it's horrific what's happening but I think exaggerations are unhelpful and facts are important. Especially in the world we currently live in.

If somebody posted an exaggeration relating to the grooming gangs then I'm sure some people would (rightly imo) challenge it and that wouldn't mean that those people support the noncing of kids.

The same can be said about bringing the railways back into public ownership. That might not have been possible if we'd remained in the EU. It's the reason the RMT leadership at the time recommended their members vote Leave.
Hadn’t heard this or #San Tejon Private School VAT either. I’ll have to read up on it

I thought that was a bit out of character chilcs. The brutality meted out by both sides is historical, ongoing and well documented.
The Palestinians by Jonathon Dimbleby, photos by Don McCullin, was written over 40 years ago. It give an account of the history of Zionist claims to Palestine, the creation of the state of Israel, and the ignominious part played by Britain in these events.
Louis Theroux's recent documentary The settlers is a sort of follow up to his 2010 Ultra Zionists.
I posted this previously https://www.theguardian.com/comment...umentary-on-israeli-settlers-in-the-west-bank it has a link to what looks to be a harrowing watch the Oscar-winning No Other Land, and refers to ITV’s Our Land: Israel’s Other War.

So Farage caught fudging again. Question in PMQs today. I wonder if ***man was there to gurn in discomfort as his mis/disinformation is exposed.
"Adam Thompson (Lab) asks what the government will do to improve maths education. He recently came across a 61-year-old man who said he had counted £7bn of government spending, when it was only £27m. What will be done for people like Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader, who cannot add up?
Rayner says Reform’s sums don’t add up. She says the government is investing in skills boot camps.

Thompson was referring to a Byline Times report saying that Reform is massively exaggerating the amount it says can be saved by getting rid of government DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion) initiatives. In his story Josiah Mortimer says:

Nigel Farage’s party faces embarrassment today as new figures appear to discredit Reform UK’s claims about ‘wasteful’ public sector spending on diversity schemes.

Farage’s party has repeatedly claimed that it could save £7bn a year by scrapping government spending on ‘DEI’ programmes – representing diversity, equality and inclusion schemes designed to reduce discrimination and create more welcoming, representative workplaces.

But new government figures – which have yet to be refuted by the far-right party – show that just £27m was actually spent on so-called DEI measures in 2022-23 by the civil service – suggesting leader Nigel Farage’s claims are off by a factor of about 250.

The civil service spend amounts to less than a penny a week per person living in Britain."

But Farage does this time and time again. The figures he msquotes need to be cintinually thrown back at him. I just feel that the media is keeping it's powder dry and will bring him down before the next election.

Moee attention also needed of Reform Councils.
