So the tariffs are now paused for 90 days and the stock markets are flying back up. Now let's see take a look at which friends of DJT bought up a load of shares after he deliberately crashed the market last week, before stalling his decision this week and sending the shares back up again...
On the bright side he has lowered our reciprocal tariff from 10% to 10%.

Yep definitely looks like a pump and dump.

Setting the World on fire to make themselves rich, how can you work with that?

China owns trillions (yes, trillions) in US debt. Which presumably has to be restructured fairly regularly. Picking a fight with your creditors is seldom a good idea, unless of course you were planning to default. I imagine the USA doing that might cause a few ripples in the world's economy.

I find PM on Radio 4 to be fascinating. It is probably fair to say the producers are Trump sceptics but rhere was an interview with one of Biden's financial advisors today that revealed rhat he had proposed the tariff regime picked up by Trump but the new uncumbants had misunderstood the formula to calculate the percentages. The errors are quite obvious to the Democrats who made the recommendations in rhr first place . The interviewee also commented that implementing the tariffs so quickly and wuthout checking the logic was a massive error. They should never have been introduced in one week.

I did not realise that Trump has put a moritorium of 90 days on the implimentation of the tariffs whilst ramping up the tariff for China yet again.

I wonder at what point the Republican Party and Americans at large wake up to the fact that Trump and his cohorts are gleefully imcompetent.

Not only that, but it feeds his already huge ego. He is showing the world who has the power. It is all narcissism for him. I’d love to see an investigation into who made money from his flip flops but we certainly won’t see that.

What is happening here is what many had suspected and were afraid of. By refusing to have a national inquiry into how it was allowed to continue for years, the government hid the facts of this scandal from the public for political reasons. Now, the so called local inquiries are being diluted into a "flexible approach" with money available to local authorities to investigate organised child rape in their area should they wish to. The pitfalls of this approach are obvious because some of those involved in the scandal were employed by the councils in question.
Jess Phillips (the junior minister for safeguarding and violence against women and girls, what a joke that is) is a disgrace. She and her government have done their utmost to stop a national inquiry, and now dilute the local ones. She squeezed in her statement to the house just before it closed for the Easter recess with few MPs in attendance. She is an awful, gutless and dishonest politician.

Maybe this has something to do with it.
Take the big three areas: Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford. Official reports suggest these areas are home to more than 2,500 child victims collectively (although the real number is likely to be far higher due to unreported cases or those identified after the most recent reports).
Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford are all held by Labour, with majority votes of 2,345, 10,789 and 8,456, respectively.

Other Labour seats rocked by grooming gang scandals include:
Keighley: Labour majority of 6,789 votes.Derby: Labour majority of 9,234 votes.Halifax: Labour majority of 7,890 votes.Newcastle: Labour majority of 16,234 votes.Bradford: Labour majority of 13,567 votes.Sheffield: Labour majority of 14,789 votes.Burnley: Labour majority of 5,678 votes.Blackburn: Labour majority of 12,345 votes.Luton: Labour majority of 9,876 votes.Leeds: Labour majority of 15,432 votes.Dewsbury: Labour majority of 6,543 votes.Nottingham: Labour majority of 13,210 votes.Cardiff: Labour majority of 10,987 votes.Birmingham: Labour majority of 18,654 votes.Manchester: Labour majority of 20,123 votes.Leicester: Labour majority of 14,567 votes.Bolton: Labour majority of 7,890 votes.Stockport: Labour majority of 9,432 votes.St Helens: Labour majority of 11,678 votes.Redditch: Labour majority of 4,321 votes.Southend West and Leigh: Labour majority of 3,210 votes.Ipswich: Labour majority of 5,678 votes.Bristol: Labour majority of 12,789 votes

But closer to home, there are some on here who should be having a hard look at themselves. They too have played it down as "they've already had an inquiry", and "it was covered in the Casey report" or "it's driven by racism" by the usual suspect. Why those posters were so adamant that a national inquiry wasn't necessary, only they will know, but why would anyone be so vocal in their objections to fully investigate something so grotesque and punish those who were complicit?

In 2014 Theresa May ordered a national enquiry. Eight years later, in 2022, that enquiry was completed. Since 2010, there have been countless local enquiries. The Conservatives were happy there had been enough enquiries until they found themselves in opposition and Lord Musk kicked off his nonsense. Labour are attempting to enact the recommendations of the 2022 report - and have been clear that another national enquiry will slow this down. What do you want here?

There is now a dedicated grooming gang taskforce which has arrested hundreds of people since 2024.

Seven of the Rotherham group are now serving 106 years in prison.

What exactly would another 8 year delay add? When did anybody ever want more national reviews? We just finished one. What is it about that review that isn’t good enough?
Exactly that, all been dealt with and answered before.

Did a good strength workout today, so my testosterone is high and I feel safe to venture out into [HASHTAG]#FallenBritain[/HASHTAG]. Not quite up to London yet.
Did you find yourself becoming more right wing as your testosterone levels rose? If so, how far right? Carrying a picture of Maggie Thatcher? Or one of Nigel Farage?

That’s ok then

It’s a deliberate attempt to mislead. All train operating companies (TOCs) currently lease trains from stock leasing companies (ROSCOs). As the franchises of each private operator expires, that part of the service comes into public ownership. Full public ownership of the railways is a phased process which is not expected to be completed before 2029

I ventured out to see a talk/interview with Mick Herron last night (the author of the Slow Horses series). Had to shoehorn myself into a suit for the first time in an age. Took the tube and walked back, rather than a tank, but made it safe and sound, just in case anyone was concerned.
Out of interest, what are the ULEZ charges like for tanks in Central Fallen London? They’re completely prohibitive in Bristol these days!
