I think you can avoid the congestion charge of you use electric tanks. They take ages to charge up , though.

They do, but the added benefit of the battery making them even heavier and able to do 'tank' things.

You know, like that well versed 'tank' thing of rushing through barriers in central London that has happened so many times.

The article is deeply incompetent as Archie points out. Anything posted by Os can be expected to have fallen under scrutiny.

I agree, and one of the reasons I am more inclined to believe Archers (lol except for obvious that 99% of Os posts are sensational BS), is that If I remember correctly doesn't Archers work on the trains?

Looks like the insider dealing issue in US is real. Republicans given a deadline of 15th May 2025 to register any gains made on shares.

As anyone with half a brain could work out, the photo Os posted only shows the start of the article (the Page 2 at the bottom means the article continues on page 2 of the paper). The full article explains the leasing process, how negotiations would usually start at least 18 months in advance but were only started 6 months ahead in this case, how the DfT's insistence on a short 5 year lease contributed to the leasing companies increasing their prices, includes a claim from "an insider" that DfT forgot they couldn't roll over the existing contracts and provides a response from the government.

I'm sure you'll all be as shocked as I was to hear Labour say it's the fault of the Tories.

A month ago i would have thought that the Democrats were finished. The Signalgate and tariff issues make me feel that Trump's honeymoon is over . It is clearly open season in the press.

A few prominent names are coming to light for insider dealing and i am not sure that this is an issue that can be spun anyway other than negatively. I never believed that the Deomcrats had a chance in 2028 but can see things going spectacularly bad with Trump. Assuming he is still alive , would not mind that a Democrat win would see successful prosecutions against Trump next time. I think that tgere will be a tightening up on presidential powers next time too.

Just been watching a short video in which Bloomberg are claiming that the rich (Trump’s buddies) made $304 billion as a result of the tariffs on, tariffs off ploy to play the stock market.
Trump was even shown in the Oval Office, pointing at two of them and boasting about how much money they had made, and the sycophants in the office gave them a round of applause.
In another video, one of his mouthpieces Marjorie Taylor Greene, was shown to have bought masses of shares at their lowest price, just before Trump announced that he was once again delaying the tariffs.
It’s just a massive bout of insider trading that, iirc, used to be punishable by imprisonment. I might be wrong there.

I have read the same on another site but that made a comment about a tribunal being held for people who have benefitted to declare. The article made a point that legislation was required to prevent insider trading which i read as currently not being illegal. A screen shot of a Trump text saying it was a goos time to buy shares featured in the article.

I may be wrong but they may have not acted unlawfully . It will not play well with voters....effectively playing rouillette with jobs and pensions.

Insider trading absolutely is illegal, everywhere in the world.

The difficulty in this case, is how do you prove that an individual buying the Trump induced dip wasn’t just taking a calculated risk based on information in the public domain? Which, tbf, anyone with a few quid sitting in the building society could have done…

That is the tricky part. I work for a bank and we have different levels of classification and even different rules depending what side of these you fall on. For example any share trade on anything at all that I make or Mrs No7 makes, I have to first get approved by the bank to demonstrate that I am dealing with public knowledge and not inside knowledge. Failure to declare (and get approved) any share purchase or sale is instant dismissal.

EDIT: bear in mind I am IT and not even privy to a most information that a bank trader would be, and I am talking about personal trades.

The suggestion in the article was proving criminality would be difficult but just sensed US was more relaxed in Uk. Looks like Marjory Taylor Greene might have some exolaining to do though.

The biggest problem is that the courts will prove they did insider trading and then their mate the President will pardon them.....

Unfortunately i think you are right but i can see that a future Democratic administration having a field day looking at abuse of power.

My hope is that people will wake up to this in America. There must be a limit to how much Trump can get away with spinning.
