On what planet is this OK?

Considering the ridiculous benefits and luxury system we implement this will costs us billions.

Why are we allowing this, when closing the border is such an easy thing to do. We are a ****ing island <laugh>

Why are Stalin and his mates willing to spunk billions on this, but steal from pensioners, disabled people and vulnerable children… people who have been paying tax all their lives?

Can any of you lefty’s on here please help me understand why you are all fine with this?

Ok I'll bite.

The headline taken on its own I am with you. It is not ok. It is awful.

Unfortunately, things aren't black and white (no pun intended). 30,000 may have come across. How many have been sent back (don't say none), how many are in our system seeking asylum and how many are here undocumented. The latter are the ones to worry about. I will also bet is nowhere near the headline 30,000.

We are an Island, but that too causes issues. We have 360 degree borders to protect. How do we do it? Leaving the EU hasn't helped as under law Asylum seekers had to claim Asylum under the first EU country they landed...usually France, so we could send them back...we can't now as we arent part of the EU.

There is a lot more to say on this, but I know I am falling on deaf ears. Please Os try to look beyond the headline.

FWIW, I agree, we have to do something about it.

Does the steelworks at Port Talbot, the largest in the UK, not count then?
I looked this up and they're talking about making steel. From what I can see the blast furnaces in Port Talbot closed last year so they no longer make steel. Port Talbot now processes imported steel. In future I think Port Talbot will recycle more types of existing steel but even then it won't make new steel.

Everyone agrees, and precisely nobody is "all fine with it", but y'know...

Those that voted for Labour are obviously fine with it.

The actions of the Labour Party have always been to throw money away and pillage the British taxpayer.

Still amazes me how many people bought their lies

I think they will begin steel production again in 2027 when the new electric arc blast furnaces come on line.

So if Labour aren’t for the vulnerable, disabled, poor, elderly, farmers or business…

Who are they for?

Quite why Starmer thinks we can have any say in global politics when he is completely destroying the UK is anyone’s guess

Starmer is a new kid on the block, he has had no involvement in this farago, yet.

Yeah, for me it's about humanity, rather than flags, religions, and skin colour.

Every human is deserving of equal rights and opportunities. It shouldn't come down to the lottery of what country you happen to be born in.

My wish would be for open borders across the entire globe. If that means the wealthy countries have to take a few steps back then so be it.

****ing hell, I just spent a minute looking at the White House account on X. It’s one of the most embarrassing, cringing, hideous things I’ve ever seen.

Thought Trump was supposed to be peace-loving and anti-war. Seems like he and his government are absolutely frothing at the bit to get their hands bloody.

You can't see a single issue with open borders across the entire globe? What happens if the entirety of Sudan wants to move here? What about all of China's poor? Where are they housed? What jobs are they getting? What would happen to the NHS?

To The Terrorists Who Wish To Do Us Harm: We Will Hunt You Down (apart from the really bad IS ones in the jails in Syria, who Elon let go because he decided to stop paying the prison guards).

Obviously I'm not saying we just open up every border tomorrow <laugh>

It's a utopian fantasy that won't happen in our lifetimes (or probably ever). But that doesn’t mean I can't hope for the world to make steady progress towards it.

The Schengen Agreement worked well until Brexit scuppered it.
