Removed comment. Seeing as the person is 60, it's not likely to be gang related. Who knows.
I don't think it helps the argument about the escalation of knife crime in major cities that the left and the right argue about whether it is terror related or not. It kinda just turns into a situation where the crime gets forgotten about and sort of "oh well" if it isn't terror related. Both sides are just focused on trying to pin it or unpin it on terror.

Both sides are constantly wanting to score points against the other, over and above dealing with the actual issues. Ideology trumps action these days.

(The fact we call them ‘sides’ says it all. Like it’s a sports team).

There is a difference. I am not a Trump fan at all, nor a Farage fan. I think people like Tommy Robinson are dangerous as well as the AFD in Germany and to an extent Le Pen's lot in France but they are given the room to grow by this defence of the Centrists and their agendas. It isn't an "either/or" but that is how they defend things. If you're not backing the centrists then you are "one of them" and it is driving people to the extremes.

nor particularly right wing per se. I am just not blind to the whole Centrist BS that is fleecing us all while being defended for no apparent reason by people that are supposedly left wing.

The whole drive to increase tax on the rich, backed by vested left wing rich who will go on air and say "we want to pay more" in defence of these tax raises misleads everyone. They know that half these rich people will leave. They also know that they can already pay more if they want without any need to have a blanket "pay more" policy. What they are actually wanting to do is drive their rich opponents on the other side out so that they can control their political puppets without opposition.

Why do they need to go on TV to say "There are lots of millionaires/billionares that want to pay more?" Why do they not just do it? And why do they put so much money into their puppet's election campaigns instead of into the public purse seeing as they say they want to do that!

What you call 'Centrism' appears to be what I call global capitalism. If so, you and I can probably agree that governments should serve the interests of working people, not of the international oligarchs who have been enriching themselves for decades at our expense. The same oligarchs, that is, who own every newspaper in this country, who started GB News, and who also own twitter, Facebook, etc.

Not all. The Guardian is owned by Guardian Media Group, which has only one shareholder - the Scott Trust. The Scott Trust, named after our longest serving editor, CP Scott, exists to secure the financial and editorial independence of the Guardian in perpetuity.

I’m sad that people keep electing a mayor of London who is overseeing the decline of our capital city into something that resembles mad max.
London was a ****hole a long time before Khan got elected as mayor. Can't really blame him for that. I blame the Vikings and the Wessex lot. Was fine when it was part of Mercia.

either/or lol. just saying. This is exactly what I mean. with us or against us. no middle ground. no nuance.
Not picking sides, in this case, just seeking clarification.
It was quite an accurate statement from Os, because us lefties IMO do tend to care for the people who are least well off or living difficult lives and his comment seemed to indicate (to me) that those on the right don’t have their hearts in the right place, otherwise he would have added that.

X is the scummiest platform I ever saw. Sheffield Weds fans mocking that lad that died. People who are upset by it being accused of being ‘they/ them’. Then I click on one of these guys and find close to 100k people liking a post that says Kamala only won in states with no voter ID. So I checked and that is a lie.

I only pop on there every now and then and I need to disinfect my eyeballs after.

Here is proof the Harris thing is a lie for those who cannot do their own research: https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-kamala-harris-win-only-where-voter-id-isnt-necessary-1982932

This is social media. not a twitter specific problem. check the comments on facebook or any other and you get the same rubbish. It is just fashionable to point at X because of Musk. Social media across the board is full of it. Both side just saying whatever they want and a lot of it just made up rubbish or downright vile.

It’s not the same. Twitter has changed beyond recognition since all the safety operatives were binned. Facebook still has ways for users to protect themselves from unwanted or offensive material, but Musk has removed all these from Twitter.

If you say so. What I see is the same idiocy on all of them. It may well be that bots are much more active on twitter.
