But he speaks for a mainstream media source?! So that surely means you can’t rely on a word he says. Or does that only change when it is something you agree with?https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/trump-was-convicted-but-prosecutors-contorted-the-law.html
I find it interesting that even CNN’s senior legal analyst thinks the whole thing is a farce and politically motivated.
None of which seems to have changed the public perception, which was my point. I'm not interested in defending Trump but that isn't a particularly strong point anyway. Trump running this year isn't something that appeared out of the blue, it's been an obvious possibility since 2020.Couple of points.
These charges were being investigated and charges laid before presidential race announcements were made. In particular the fraudulent inflation of wealth case already found against Trump, his family and cohorts.
That's technically true but not really a complete or accurate summary of what's happened. The special counsel report earlier this year found evidence Biden was guilty of some things but concluded it wasn't worth prosecuting him, at least partly because of his age and forgetfulness. Hunter Biden is due to go on trial later in the year. None of that sounds like a waste of time to me.Biden has been a target for Trump and the republicans for years, attempted muck racking with no charges being brought. Bit similar to the waste of time and money that the Tory attempted smear of Angela Rayner was.
LAPTOP ALERT! LAPTOP ALERT! AWOOGA AWOOGA! LAPTOP ALERT!Election interference at its best. Blinken got rewarded for his dirty work with the Secretary of State position. They knew this would be bad for Biden, so they signed a BS letter, that the infamous laptop was fake. Now we know it was election interference. But their Dems and thats ok.

The truth hurts
Trump just raised $35mil in under 24hrs since the scam trial. Lol. Seems like a lot of people haven’t bought the regimes lies
The former president’s rambling tirade at Trump Tower contained a number of questionable assertions. It and other bullshit ridden tirades by Trump and his sycophants have been debunked and derided completely lacking any verifiable evidence. If it was Biden you would be cheering this to the rafters for the reason you mention - you believe he is corrupt. Without any evidence. Yet Trump is provably corrupt and has just been found guilty of fraud, with lots of evidence, and you are denying it
As I’ve mentioned already you are also not decrying judicial corruption in Trump’s favour. You seem to believe he should be above the law in general. Why is perceived judicial a corruption only a problem when it goes against Trump ?
Most of us here don’t like Trump and are happy to see him finally be held to the law that he has been seemingly immune to most of his life due to his extreme wealth.
Also, the notion this was all done to try and stop him running for election is both absurd and incorrect. Everyone involved knows this wouldn’t stop him running or evening being able to hold the office of President. They know the constitution. These charges would have happened regardless.

It’s an Alice in Wonderland world where all evidence is proof of conspiracy and no evidence is proof that the truth is being hiddenWhich is why Trump’s supporters believe in “alternative facts”

Ironic considering a federal judge has described Trump as … "a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries"In fairness, as unpleasant as Trump is, this isn't purely tribal. There are quite a lot of Americans, including Biden supporters (I know some), who think these charges are politically motivated, that Trump is only being charged because he's running for President and that nobody else would be charged in the same situation. Some of them are fine with that because they hate Trump so much. Others disagree and also think the idea Trump will "destroy democracy" is silly even though they wouldn't vote for him. I fear all this undermines trust in their institutions.
It also has to be said that this isn't how the US has dealt with this sort of thing in the past. Nixon was plainly guilty of multiple crimes but was given a blanket pardon by Ford. Bill Clinton certainly deserved to face criminal charges over some of his actions but didn't, although having said that if the sexual allegations had come to light now rather than 30 years ago he might well have ended up in court. I'm sure there are other examples.
If Trump does win in November I worry he's petty enough to try and target Biden (and possibly others) through the courts and that could be the start of something very dangerous.
I can’t really see anything that justifies “nasty piece of work” clearly inappropriate joke, stupid to do this on social media, worthy of criticism and she should have apologised unreservedly, but yellow card more than redCommunity notes for the win.
She also mocked Sajid Javid for not being authentically brown enough to order spicy Nando’s. Nasty piece of work.
Suggested update in red, and would add he's attempting to claim presidents of the United States should have full immunity from prosecution.Ironic considering a federal judge has described Trump as … "a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries"
Trump sure likes to look and sound like he wants to destroy democracy, are they being complacent?
He accuses all US institutions of corruption, stated that the election process was corrupt and that he actually won, tried to undermine that process, instigated an attack on the Capitol, says he wants to extend the number of terms a president (he) can serve and now calls the jury trial that convicted him corrupt
