I’ve managed lots of people. A few very difficult ones. Managers tend to spend huge amounts of time dealing with the small percentage of people who are basically unmanageable. The sort of people who, for example, prefer to complain loudly to anyone who’ll listen about how badly they’ve been treated, rather than talk to their managers directly. I think Starmer’s come out of this okay tbh. This was the first big wobble in Labour’s campaign, the one seasoned campaigners predicted would happen. He’s shown an ability to compromise, something narcissists and ideological purists are incapable of doing.
A disruptive employee takes more management than an easy one. I will repeat what I said before: an employee, on being reinstated after suspension, should receive a back to work interview with their position fully laid out. You cannot "expect" the employee to quietly retire. This could have been avoided by Starmer saying, immediately, we want Diane Abbott in the party! Of course we will back her. He did not. Because he was trying to slyly squeeze her out without even being gracious enough to dump her. But he can't as she is well liked by the community she represents. Diane Abbott is Diane Abbott. She is a bull in a china shop. What is being judged here is how Starmer dealt with her. And, for me, he failed miserably - because he IS trying to purge the left out of the party.
The saddest part to me is that you guys don’t see how bad this is for democracy and the American republic. Just because you guys don’t like Trump you are happy to watch the rule of law be completely desecrated and are happy to laugh about it. I assure you - I hate Biden. Hate him. I think he is unfit for office. I think he’s an idiot and more corrupt than you can imagine…. But if he was put through what trump is going through right now, I would be saying exactly the same. That it’s a gross weaponisation of the justice system. Going through someone’s history to find a misdemeanour and turning it into a massive felony to stop them running for election is something we should never expect to see in the West. It’s despicable
Well first of all he hasn't been stopped from running. Being convicted of a felony does not prevent someone from running for president. And secondly, this is excellent for democracy. If prosecutors had turned a blind eye because Trump is a former president and is running for office then THAT would be bad for democracy.
Maybe not if other Republican wannabee Presidents (De Santos for example).start campaigning for the Republican nomination.
Trump just raised $35mil in under 24hrs since the scam trial. Lol. Seems like a lot of people haven’t bought the regimes lies
And this is what's so sad. It's become so tribal now, on both sides, that he really could shoot someone on First Avenue, and people would still support him.
Strange to see Mannheim in the news as my family is from there. I have been in that square many times. There is a very strong Turkish population around there - but also an undercurrent of racism. Can't stand radical Islam or nuts going around preaching race hate - so for me it is the police officer I feel really sorry for.
And a drive-by shooting last night in Hackney, with a child critically injured, within the Turkish/Kurdish community too.
If it was Biden you would be cheering this to the rafters for the reason you mention - you believe he is corrupt. Without any evidence. Yet Trump is provably corrupt and has just been found guilty of fraud, with lots of evidence, and you are denying it As I’ve mentioned already you are also not decrying judicial corruption in Trump’s favour. You seem to believe he should be above the law in general. Why is perceived judicial a corruption only a problem when it goes against Trump ? Most of us here don’t like Trump and are happy to see him finally be held to the law that he has been seemingly immune to most of his life due to his extreme wealth. Also, the notion this was all done to try and stop him running for election is both absurd and incorrect. Everyone involved knows this wouldn’t stop him running or evening being able to hold the office of President. They know the constitution. These charges would have happened regardless.
We are very lucky to have our comparatively sheltered life in England. There is a very fine balancing act between opening this up to the rest of the world and stopping people who are so badly damaged by their pasts that violence is normal to them coming in.
I have just read the BBC report and it reports a Knife attack on an anti-Islamist former right-wing politician whose organisation is holding an anti-Islamization protest in Mannheim. Nowhere does it say the attacker was a Muslim, Os. Hope the police officer recovers full health as he came off worse in the attack.
Perhaps another Republican should put his or her name forward to secure the GOP.nomination at their convention now that Trump is a proven felon.
