Not me they haven't, I might even watch MOTD again now.

All this gnashing and wailing over that smug twat when this could be the ideal time to breathe some life back into that tiresome programme.
Shame about Wrighty but all it needs now is Interesting Danny Murphy to join Lineker, Shearer and Jenas and we could be watching someone with a pulse presenting it for a change.
The only reason the programme is so popular despite Lineker and his buddies is because football is the country's no1 sport.
Mark Chapman is a far better presenter than Lineker could ever hope to be but the Beeb will probably take it's normal route and find a black, female lesbian to fill the role. Or Eddie Izzard.
The comments about not finding someone to take over are a bit hopeful as I believe there are some within the BBC who didn't like him expressing political views while employed as a sport's presenter. I really don't think there will be any shortage of willing candidates.
No sympathy for Lineker anyway, whether you agree with the Beeb's policies or not, he has been advised about his twitter activities more than once and was more than happy to double down and bait them about it. He gave the impression he was too popular for them to do anything about it the smug twat. Good riddance.
And this is sadly how a lot of people think.

So how is this most likely to go? Seems like it would have to be a bbc climb down? But I just can’t see it with their current leadership structure being so pro-government

The BBC seriously underestimated the reaction that suspending Lineker would get. They'll quietly reinstate him for next weekend I'm sure.

They are snookered effectively.

If they stand down they will have the Government and right wing on their case shouting bias.

If this stands they are discredited as an organisation and will be under pressure to remove anyone who has ever made a mildly political comment in their social life. I think their football coverage across the board will be severely wounded as well, Gary Lineker is almost universally respected by footballers and broadcasters, none of whom will want to be seen to be joining or supporting the organisation that made an example of him.

The bbc will do whatever the Tory party says to do ……..can’t believe anyone thought they were impartial.
It’s worse than that. It’s the opposite. Many think they are too left wing. Likely based solely on their comedy panel shows. But with all due respect to those right wing comics out there - they just aren’t as funny. Most great comedy requires an element of anti establishment to it. So a pro Brexit , pro Tory comedian just isn’t going to cut it most of the time

Actually genius redirection. Because the politics side has been very right leaning for a long time. Andrew Neill, Andrew Marr and the lady who seemed to be constantly auditioning for the role of Boris Johnson’s personal PR spokesperson as political editor for years. And now Fiona Bruce chairing question time. The outrageous bias towards right wingers relative to their representation in the area/country on that very show

But no, because Frankie Boyle took a hard leftward turn and the panel shows mock the government people believe the BBC has too much left wing bias. Maddening really

This sums it up really

But I thought government controlling the media is a conspiracy theory?

It’s hilarious to me how people are willing to stand up and speak out about Gary lineker, but not about immoral vaccine mandates, lockdowns and face masks that did **** all.

Truly shows the power of the media to me. Most people literally get told what to think by celebrities

Well done. Football taking a united stand. <applause>

It's a pity they couldn't take a united stand about going to Qatar. That includes Lineker who despite his holy "I’ll continue to try and speak up for those poor souls that have no voice" decided to go and watch some football. He's a ****ing hypocrite.
