So much to worry about and Tory members rank refugees equal with the Economy and greater than the NHS in their 12 biggest concerns.

Also notable: all of the hand-wringing hasn't even convinced Tory rank-and-file that being scared of trans people is of any real importance.

This is a funny read. Cruddas begging to keep Johnson on. It just shows how desperately out of touch they are with how non party members feel about Johnson's partying and lies.

Maybe, when introducing a new law, the Tory party should ask their members to vote on that as well, before passing it?
If so I would become a member just to vote against it.

Liz Truss displaying a casual relationship with economics, by declaring that lowering taxes will reduce inflation. Of course, putting more money in people's pockets will clearly mean that they will cut back on spending, thus lowering prices. What could possibly go wrong? Not so much Maynard Keynes as Milton Keynes

A line from dignity by deacon blue. Not much dignity from politicians these days.

What doesn’t get enough airtime is just how much more damaging the cost of living is, to workers, as a direct result of 12 years of unnecessary austerity.
If wages had been allowed to rise at a sensible rate, instead of, in some cases, being frozen, the general public might have been going into this latest hell, better prepared financially.
The Tory party regularly uses the pandemic and Russia/Ukraine as the major reason for people struggling but they were already struggling before the pandemic and the war.

I think I can shed some light on this;

The woman the conservative party membership seem about to inflict on an ungrateful nation, is a cretin.
I think the “logic” is that pro-Brexit types have built this strawman argument that pro-remain people said “if Brexit goes through we won’t be able to negotiate any trade deals”. With the aid of a compliant print media of course

When in reality you need to switch “any” for “beneficial”.

So Truss is bragging and basically saying “look all you negative remoaners - we did secure a deal”. Doesn’t matter how bad it is
