Simon Calder, travel expert, explaining the issues at Dover.
I think we all heard the criticism of the French, not manning all the passport control desks. What we didn’t hear was that some of them couldn’t get to work as a direct result of the traffic issues in Kent.
This type of video needs a wider audience, because people, including one of my brothers, will just assume that the French are deliberately causing problems, when it all comes down to Brexit and our own government insisting on being a 3rd country and having passports stamped.

    More brexit triumphs.
    https://www.theguardian.com/society...adges-may-not-be-accepted-in-eu-due-to-brexit
"As Brexit was blamed for queues of up to 11 hours for ferries from Dover to France at the weekend, tourists are being reminded that the UK’s departure from the EU could yet cost them in other ways.

Mobile phone operators including Vodafone have reintroduced roaming charges as Brexit has released them from the EU-wide pact not to charge extra to people travelling within the bloc.

Also, Britons who have become accustomed to spending lengthy periods including winters in Spain or other EU countries are now restricted to a maximum stay of 90 days at a time and a total of 180. This has affected workers including musicians and theatre companies on tour in Europe.

Next year the EU plans to introduce the European travel information and authorisation system [ETIAS], which will electronically log entry and exits to the EU and for the first time automatically capture data on overstayers from Britain, and under which visitors from non-EU countries will have to pay a fee of €7 (£6) to enter the EU."

This feels like Sunak betting on Liz Truss feeling compelled to do the same and failing miserably if she does. Not a bad tactic.

Also, fair play to him I guess because Boris Johnson wouldn't do any of this stuff at all and flatly turned down a live sitdown with Neil.

Simon Calder is a travel expert and knows exactly what he is talking about. Brexit is 100% to blame for the mess.

He's said much the same thing on a number of news outlets. Perhaps those who voted for brexit are realising there are far more pros to belonging to the EU than cons, many of which were misleading if not downright lies by the brexitears. The predictions of the remain campaign have come to light, scaremongering they were not.
