Today we have two chumps of the day. the joint winners of this prestigious award being Ian Duncan Smith for his astoundingly"fascinating" and "informative" article in the Mail on Sunday about Civil Servants goingt to the office as bombs were raining down on London in the 1940s while many were still working from home. Pure comedy springs to mind here. The other joint winner is none other than our honorable Prime Minister who chose to jet off to Marbella for a holiday while the rest of the UK faces food and fuel shortages. Obvioiusly he doesn't give a feck about the UK.
FFS get off of the guys back.

He has had to work ****ing hard over the last few years to create the ****ing mess we're in.

The big disappointment for me and the country is not that he has gone but that the arsehole will come back.

Maybe he's hoping that Carrie will give birth to their second child while they are in Spain, so the baby can have dual citizenship, and Boris will then be able to claim some form of Spanish nationality, meaning that he can reside in the EU, whilst insisting that Britain is no longer part of it.

I like this from the Mirror. It’s almost as if the police want him to be disturbed.

A Spanish police source told the Sunday Mirror last night: “Officially we can’t confirm, but unofficially he’s in a big luxury villa on the border between Marbella and Benahavis.

That's good to hear, having a high regard for yourself is not always a bad thing. If you can't praise yourself who will eh? You're not alone in that though, it's a common theme in the politics thread that posters like to tell each other about their higher morals and how much smarter they are than joe public just because they vote differently. Quite a mutual love fest at times.

You may feel there is a conspiracy against you. I don't think so. The reason why is because whenever someone posts an article about Corbyn or Abbott, you seem rather hostile. Fair enough but these guys are not running the country into the ground at the moment. That is why many on here prefer to be critical of the person who is!!

Who is paying for this holiday?

I only pop on here very occasionally. So, do you give “credit” for Tories for being great con artists, the public for being so naive or opposition being so poor. A combo of all 3 I suspect? Or is that just me being totally naive?
I give You two out of three. As for the opposition being so poor, I think this is media and social media narrative and not entirely true.

So, which of those 3 then can be altered to position the 4th (Labour) into power. Obviously it’s not 1, I doubt very much 2 & 3 (media) … hum? That’s tough & who can crack that nut? Sir KS?

Cast our minds back to the 80s and Michael Foot was belittled by the media. Admittedly, he was faced with an opponent who had a far great intellect than that possessed by the current PM, so Kier Starmer should be able to demolish anything coming out of Johnson's mouth.

To think Thatcher was hounded from office for having the temerity to change the system of local taxation. What Johnson is doing is far worse. Where are the protests on the streets?

Where indeed. Basically we live in an age of nihilism, I suspect. I was thinking that if the great pig crisis had hit France, pig farmers over there would have porkers roaming the streets of Paris and causing havoc.

How did we become so complacent and passive. I think part of the confusion now is where do you get the truth from? IMO the media is somewhat rigged, and if you haven't got the right wing rags on side, you haven't a hope. Interestingly, recently Starmer had a column in the Sun (he approached them I believe). I'm not sure this is permanent? I wonder if it is time for labour to just back PR, and then you have a chance of decent coalitions. That's my ramshackle thoughts for now.

PR is a must at if we are to fix our broken politics. We currently have a government with a majority of 80 seats, based on around 40% of the popular vote

For PR to.happen Labour are going to need change its Unionist stance. First the Scottish Labour Party needs to become an independent entity, rather like the CSU (Bavarian Conservatives).and CDP in Germany. This will help Scottish Labour recover some votes lost to the SNP. If this happens these parties can form.an alliance along with other minority parties if the fat pig fails to secure enough seats in the next election. And to.ensure there is never again a ruling party, agree to.PR. The carrot that Labour can offer the SNP is to.renegotiate the Brexit deal so.that the UK.re-enters the Customs Unión and Single Market, along with an Independence referendum.

The current government have almost no restraint on their ability to push a divisive agenda, at a time when, frankly, we are divided enough as it is.
Hmm, divide and conquer! I wish more young (and old) would mobilise, but I'm not sure how and what will be enough to trigger this. Thing is, I'm not heavily labour necessarily, but the current situation isn't healthy.
