And you've used C4 and the Guardian, but I'll let that pass because as I've already said above; "using the Daily Mail as a way of undermining opinions is usually the tactic of someone who can't put together a credible argument." Swap Daily Mail with Belfast Telegraph and the point still stands.
I would hope that paper can see the benefits of NI still being in the Customs Union and Single Market as I am quite certain that a substantial number of Unionists voted to Remain, certainly those in the business sector.
That's not what I was implying but since you asked, from what I've seen of the Mail it is no better than a comic and heavily biased to the right and apparently makes things up. C4 and the Guardian may have more intelligent content but are both heavily biased to the far left. So, a higher level of credibility compared to the Mail but it doesn't mean you are not going to get a skewed version of the truth. The point about using the Mail comparison is that the name has become a generic term for an unreliable source even if it wasn't (the source). It's just an easy attempt to discredit an opposing viewpoint without addressing the actual issue.
"heavily biased to the far left" have to do a MaCa and say you cannot be serious and leave it at that, far left no really not.
For what it’s worth, I think you are 100% spot on here. left, right, labour, conservative. All have been the same once they get in power. All you have to do is follow the money to find the truth; which is no one seems to have the country’s best interest at heart
I’ve yet to meet anyone who claims to have unbiased, centrist views who isn’t actually more to the right than they purport to be The media skews the view by where it stands Anyone who thinks C4 and Guardian are far left is delusional
The way I see it is that if someone holds a more central position, they are open to views both to the left and the right and can make a decision based on whether you agree or not and not how you're supposed to think. Unshackled from the position you align yourself with at one end or the other, you can be less narrow minded in your outlook on life, or to put it another way a little less conservative. I can understand why someone who sees C4 and the Guardian as a beacon of truth might become defensive when being associated with the far left, but I'm sure people who read the Mail are equally uncomfortable about being labelled far right. From my centrist position I think I've got it about right.
This is another photo from Alicante airport, taken today, showing the queue for the border control and passports to be stamped on entry. Other visitors were still being held on shuttle buses, not being allowed to join the already massive queue. This looks like being the future for UK passport holders and is only a snapshot of just how bad it might become when travel is FULLY opened up and at peak travel times. The upcoming half term could be interesting. Thank you Brexit.
I don't make decisions based on my position to the left or the right, I'm not shackled by my alignment with a label of left or right or centre, I don't take any notice of 'how I'm supposed to think' and I'm not narrow minded. Politics isn't religious doctrine I believe what I believe because of my ethics, morality and belief in what is right and fair I didn't say C4 & Guardian were 'beacons of truth', I said they were not far-left, because they clearly aren't I say only this "Follow the money", there is a reason why the rich want control of the media The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the 'unbiased centrists' call anyone who says its wrong the far-left
Another airport queue, this time Madrid. Said to be 300 metres long, whilst the EU entry point was empty. I hope everyone responsible for this takes the time to introduce themselves to fellow travellers in the queue, when they travel.
That's good to hear, having a high regard for yourself is not always a bad thing. If you can't praise yourself who will eh? You're not alone in that though, it's a common theme in the politics thread that posters like to tell each other about their higher morals and how much smarter they are than joe public just because they vote differently. Quite a mutual love fest at times.
Today we have two chumps of the day. the joint winners of this prestigious award being Ian Duncan Smith for his astoundingly"fascinating" and "informative" article in the Mail on Sunday about Civil Servants goingt to the office as bombs were raining down on London in the 1940s while many were/are still working from home during the pandemic and are continuing to do so apparently. Pure comedy springs to mind here. The other joint winner is none other than our honorable Prime Minister who chose to jet off to Marbella for a holiday while the rest of the UK faces food and fuel shortages. Obvioiusly he doesn't give a feck about the UK.
FFS get off of the guys back. He has had to work ****ing hard over the last few years to create the ****ing mess we're in. The big disappointment for me and the country is not that he has gone but that the arsehole will come back.
