I may have mentioned this before, but worth saying it again if I have. A chap in my group when I mentioned something similar to your point above told me this, “If someone wants to vote for a politician because he likes his suit, that’s their right and I’m ok with that.”
It is of course a correct statement, but it backed up my message which was similar to this post.

I’m not sure how often you’re on this thread No1 but are you aware of the honourable banned members contribution to it?
I’d say his main contribution is that he wants it banned because it is a hotbed of ill informed socialist propaganda peddled by indoctrinated fools ...

I’m no fan of a ban of any sort but I visit this thread to hear political opinions and not to hear someone constantly whingeing about everyone having the same opinion, if I thought real political arguments were being shut down I’d be complaining. And yes it is a bit of an echo chamber but that’s what happens on forums and if I want to hear another side then I can buy the Mail Express Times Telegraph etc

I would counter that by saying that we get the government that the media wants.
That is where the battle is won and lost and it was Murdoch switching allegiance to Blair, taking the Sun and News of the World readers with him, that gave Labour so many years in control.
It was him switching back to the Tories that changed things again.
What I would really like to see is a list of benefits that working class people gain from a Tory government, because I genuinely don’t understand why working class people vote for them.
I think it would be as long as the list of benefits we will see from Brexit.
I can’t remember how long ago it was, (1year or more) but I posted it on here at the time.
Local councils were being given cash to help fund areas where they were struggling to meet their responsibilities, at a set rate of interest, but if they wanted to borrow money for building social housing the interest rate was considerably higher, which acted as a deterrent as the higher interest payments would reduce the money needed to pay for everyday projects.
Cameron/Osborne were quoted as saying that “council houses breed Labour voters”, something I think the Tories have always known, hence the selling off and non replacement of social housing.
But this is just the writings of an indoctrinated fool.

Certainly true in the U S A right now. The true test of democracy is the transition of power without protest or violence. It seems something in the region of 33 to 40 % of the electorate including many elected republicans are prepared to countenance resisting democractic principles presently.
I was expecting worse tbh, from some of Trump's more deluded and vociferous supporters. They haven't taken to the streets in big numbers, have they?
It looks as though the US Constitution, and Federal and State institutions, have stood the test against what in effect has been an attempted coup. Of course for a coup to be effective, it helps if the insurrectionists have military support, and didn't the Chief of staff move quickly to kybosh that?

Just completed a YouGov chat about the Brexit deal, amongst other things.
There is very little confidence, in those questioned, that it will be a good deal for the country.
A further chat was about legalising marijuana. I have never been a user but would love it to be more easily available, or at least the oils extracted from it, to aid people with severe health conditions.

Putting this on here, mainly for the poster on the right about UK citizens not being entitled to any support abroad, even if they are kidnapped and tortured. WTF!

The Green Party of England and Wales has managed to elect, as their co-chairs, a trans woman and a TERF. So if you get bored of the other absolute trainwrecks in politics at the moment, that ought to be fun.

This government has always been about making headline catching gestures, with little substance to support the gesture being made. As shallow as a worm’s grave.
When the Nightingale Hospitals were being built questions were asked about how they would be staffed, when we don’t have enough staff for our everyday hospitals.
Maybe, instead of pulling them down they could use them to house homeless people during the cold months.
