Sorry, I am now out of patience with you as you refuse to listen to my quite reasonable reply. You are now banned from the Politics thread.
Used to work in the Housing Dept at SCC and I know how much they want to provide more Social Housing without any support from Central Gov Dorset Council has zero Local Authority houses All went to Housing Assoc of variable qualitative years ago One Labour, one Tory. No prizes for guessing which is which
What a crock . We are ALL under pressure and if Billied is the poster I think he is , then he should be brought back NOW . It's a crock for all of us , FFS please keep this thread open to ALL .
Disclaimer. The following comes from a newspaper. I cannot confirm it’s accuracy, but have put it on here because it contains some interesting claims, regarding the Brexit Trade Deal. One such claim is that should a future government deviate from the agreement, then it could all go back to square one and need to be renegotiated. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/polit...IW-DezdI5v8Ib4fA3dpYTORYC0vQnaYsJAwV2tiJ7s1RI
I saw posts that expressed annoyance about the one sided criticism of the govt, even on Christmas day. Then there was a bit of childish tit for tat with a few pictures designed to provoke a response. Nobody really bit, and said Poster then started questioning how we debate politics on the thread. Chilco pointed out that the forum isn't really designed to be a debating forum unless people want to. Therein lies the problem Jasper - plenty of people are happy to continually criticise our govt, but nobody will ever talk about the good things the govt has achieved, and so anybody who leans towards Tory political allegience doesn't find a lot of support. This then prompts a bit of whining about how unfair it all is on the socialist thread, a few jabs back and forth with the mods and then a member gets banned. Trouble is, there will never be any support for the good things the Tories have done, until they do some and I've seen nothing good yet. Credit where credit is due and all that but our govt is a shambles run by ****s so until they start governing for the people and not their mates then support will be thin on the ground. I use this thread to find out the latest atrocity and abuse that is being planned, however I'm generally adult enough to be able to read something and ignore it if I have nothing to contribute, and I certainly don't weep and cry if nobody thinks like I do. If people don't like the content of the thread, then add something else, don't just complain about what is there, or who posts what. I've yet to see anything actually posted by our banned friend that adds anything to this particular thread, it's just a series of complaints that the majority of posters on here are left wing and all gang up on anyone who disagrees... If somebody wants to tell me why the govt doesn't deserve our scrutiny and criticism then crack on, and then there will be a debate but for goodness sake come with something. It's not enough just to say "I don't like the political bias on this thread" I want to hear from the other side, and maybe I might learn why I shouldn't fear and distrust Tory ideology. Nobody can tell me a single positive thing the govt have achieved, it usually comes down to "well they're dealing with it better than Corbyn would have" and that's the end of the debate, never any examples of what's been done well or even any reasons why Corbyn would have done things worse. I look on on the thread but rarely contribute because I feel that until we are in an election situation again, it's not really important, despite the fact that the thread does tend to be populated by posters who are a bunch of enbittered socialists who are of course my tribe. That's my take on it anyway.
Yeah, there was a bit of rudeness IMHO, and a bit of trolling. It just goes round in circles then until either toys out of the Pram or storming out of the virtual room. We've lost a few people over the years and that will happen, same as in a pub which is how the forum pictured itself from the start. We don't all think alike so there'll be differences of opinion. The trouble is opinions are like assholes- everyone has one, but we don't always need to hear it. Perhaps people should try posting as if they were in the pub, that way everybody would be a bit more polite and maybe a bit more realistic about who they seek as their audience.
Agree 100% Having said that , if what was posted was said face to face it would probably taken in a different way . ]Anyway . That’s that hope you and yours stay safe .
Great couple of posts SC and following up on what you said about the current government, the one thing I do give them credit for is the furlough and self-employed support schemes they introduced. There's no doubt that they had to do it to prevent mass unemployment but that aside, they did it and I said at the time I thought it was a really good move and of great benefit to a huge number of people. Obviously some (lots) of people have missed out and there will have been instances where it has been poorly targeted but I do actually think they did very well to minimise what could have been a financial crisis for millions of people. On a personal level, I don't really care what colour a government is, I would just like a good government that values its people higher than they value wealth generation. Other countries manage to do it without going bankrupt, so it is entirely possible to govern in a fair and equitable manner with a more even distribution of wealth.
