Most pharmacies with any sense will be doing it already. I was speaking to a pharmacist friend over a year ago who was advising patients with long-term medical conditions to stockpile their prescription drugs if they could, in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
I remember having this very discussion about insulin in particular. Less than 1% of the insulin used by diabetics in the UK is made here. We import every drop of the rest. No doubt the same is true for many other medicines without which patients cannot survive.
I read the other day that for self sustainability the UK population needs to be no more than 16 million. Spaffer is doing a good job getting us towards that target.
My wife’s prescription was late in being put together last week because the pharmacist had run out of both of my wife’s painkillers.
If they are struggling to stay ahead of things, when the borders are free and easy to cross, god only knows what sort of problems will occur in January, if they don’t stockpile.
I have been able to get my wife an early prescription before, when I knew the next batch was due when we were on holiday. Our GP doesn’t have an issue with that.
With regards to obtaining a stockpile, I don’t know if GPs will allow that on a regular basis, for fear it might stop others, who don’t stockpile, from getting their regular supply.

When you say “we just sit back” it’s not those of us who don’t vote for them.
The Tories are being empowered by their voters who seem quite content to let these things happen, just so long as they are in power.
The Tories and their voters pride themselves on their so called patriotism, yet when push comes to shove party comes before country, so in cases such as this, helping out their donors will be at the top of their to do list.
The right thing to do would have been to copy other countries that blocked handouts to tax exiled companies.
Yes, I agree, StB, but I can’t help feeling that, if the French government acted like this, the population would be rioting and making their views absolutely clear. The British voter basically does what the media tells him or her (mainly), hence the thumping great majority Pfeffel has. I can’t forgive Cameron for calling the referendum then running away, Corbyn and the Lib Dems for agreeing to a GE when they could have held firm and held this bunch of shysters more to account and the voters in those “red areas” who believed the media and gave them the opportunity to screw us all over. All I can hope for now is that there is karma and they get a bloody nose in a few years time. Sadly the opposition are busy tearing into each other and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the tories returned again. We MUST have PR and no more FPTP but I don’t see either of the main parties going for that as they know they’d lose seats.

The government are at least being consistent to their principles. The Vote Leave campaign never mentioned the EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive, come to that, neither did the Remain campaign, but that was what Brexit has always been about. Now we’re free of that impediment to the mega rich getting even mega richer, there’s no stopping them.
