Petrol was relatively expensive, but only because they didn't have economies of scale. Electricity also suffered the same problems. But electricity is agnostic of source. It doesn't care how it is made. Either by wind source, hydro, coal, you name it. Ultimately, the fossil fuel industries saw an opportunity to close down electricification of transport, and did it. It's well documented. But I'm not going to find links that people can't be bothered to read.Is it also though that fuel (rather then electricity) WAS cheaper? I don't know, I am genuinely putting it out there as I am only young
Also, isn't it weird that we say fuel is expensive (it is) but we are willing to pay £1.50 for 1 litre of water from the supermarket, but not £1.25 for a litre of petrol?
I NEVER buy bottled water.
