Don't start till Monday and this is more of a dig at my own (former) side but I noticed this tweet that popped up on twitter. States it is a Tory "Whips list."
What I noticed is that Kwasi Kwarteng is mentioned a couple of times as being involved in things that can be held against Liz Truss and Amber Rudd!! He seems to be a favourite with the "ladies." The strange thing being while the whole list seems to be a "dish the dirt if you don't comply" list with plenty of chaps on there for their "inappropriate behaviour" Kwasi himself is not on the list!! Quite amusing though:

Yes indeed, one of his best ones. Kind of answers Roy's objections in a nutshell really.
What did the governments do over those 25 years? They advised people to buy diesel cars to help knock back the CO2 levels. That eventually helped make Southampton go from a relatively clean air city to one of the filthiest in Europe. Not helped at all by us letting docked ships stay on auxiliary diesel engines while in port. That's proposed to be remedied at last.
Of course being encouraged to buy diesels had nothing to do with the 'dash-for-gas', instead of fuel oil power stations, which left the northern hemisphere with a huge glut of fuel reserve going nowhere, so we'd better find a reason to sell it. In an effort to make the diesel car more palatable, they invented the 'common rail' version, which made them behave a bit more like petrol cars. Sadly, even our own Marcus Liebherr got in on that one. We've had the wool well and truly pulled over our eyes. Isn't it time we stopped thinking there's a Planet B?

Having spent 21 years of my working life at Royal Mail, I can never forgive Vince Cable for that totally unnecessary act of industrial vandalism.
It makes no difference to me really as I had left about a year before privatisation and my pension is as safe as a workplace pension can be - but I’m incensed that, having survived 18 years of Conservative privatisation dogma, my old employer has now gone from being a national asset to an investment opportunity for speculators.
What a cunning stunt to take Barclay brothers propaganda rag report as the whole story.
Its hypocritical in the same way that killing Nazi's was hypocritical in the effort for European peace.
I'm neutral on this protest but if she thinks it will achieve her goals then it certainly wouldn't be hypocritical.
On a side note, its also not hypocritical to call for a law change but not follow the rules you're trying to make until after they've been made. Pet annoyance of mine.
Oh well done for focussing on the personality rather than the point of the protest.

I just wish that alarmists would stop spouting the usual lines like polar caps are melting, the temps are rising etc, and tell people how can we change to a 0 co2 emission world, every road surface is a by product of oil, what is their suggestion for this, over 6000 products that we use are byproducts of the petrolium industry, what will we use instead of those.
The west has lowered its c02 output, only to see China and India raise theirs, what is their answer to this. We can and we are lowering our co2 emissions, but the world is simply not ready for the complete destruction of fossil fuels. you can buy an electric car, but if you get your electricity from an oil burning refinery then whats the point. The first move has to be to change all power stations to nuclear and renewable, in the last 25 years half of the new power stations have been gas, the other half have been renewable
The first act surely has to be to stop cutting down the rain forests and start replacing the trees that have been lost. Anyone who saw the David Attenborough programme last night will have seen the vast areas visible from satellite photos which have been lost around the whole world, and it won’t be long before too much of the “lungs of the world” will have been destroyed to be able to reverse the effect. None of the rain forests are in a China or India, by the way, and all are being sacrificed to satisfy the greed of us in the West for palm oil, meat, and other unnecessary products.
People should also eat less meat, the production of which directly contributes to greenhouse gases.
I agree about the power stations, and there is no excuse for any new house not having PV panels on the roof, it should now be compulsory.
It’s too easy to point fingers at China and India and be complacent about the West. If you look at carbon emissions per capita China and India are way down the list compared to the USA.

Concrete is more durable than asphalt in addition to being more environmentally friendly, and while it has a higher up-front cost, it costs less over time because it requires resurfacing much less frequently. We have replaced a large section of highway here with concrete, not to lower our reliance on oil, but because it holds up far better under the weight of truck traffic.
Economic pressure.
Agree that it's incredibly important that we cease getting electricity from coal/fuel oil sources, but there's no "first step". There are multiple avenues that can and should be pursued simultaneously.
the production of concrete or cement accounts for 5 to 10% of global co2 emissions, this is mainly from the production of lime, they are now trying to make a more eco friendly lime.
my post was more about the powers that be are doing a piss poor job of explaining to people how first of all warming will effect upcoming generations, and most importantly what people can do as individuals and as nations. For example, if tomorrow everybody in the west said they would not buy a new car with petrol or diesel engine, car companies would be forced to meet demand with better electric options, private companies would rush to install charging points (much of this would be done by big oil companies I would assume as they have the money and the foresight not to end up like Blockbuster or Kodak)
I do not think that the seas rising will be such a big issue, first of, the polar caps are melting around the edges, but they are getting thicker in general. The main problem at the moment is lack of fresh water in a lot of countries. Its really hard to scare someone by saying the sea is rising 1mm a year, but no water coming from the tap is a real slap to the face.
Israel now gets most of its fresh water from desalination plants of which they have 5 and each plant produces enough water for 2 million people, imagine if Australia builds 10 for its water supply, South Africa builds 20 (would need more) North African countries another 20 and central African countries another 20, even England may need to build some if the summers keep getting hotter. this could also effect the sea level as dessert land could be used for agriculture, imagine if North Africa was to follow in Israels steps?
Please give evidence for these claims, as most of them seem to conflict with the accepted science, especially rising sea levels.
Edit: an estimated 146 million people live less than1 metre above sea level.
