The Tories have blocked the release of the Windrush Documents, after using a 3 line whip to force their MPs to fall into line or face disciplinary action.

It was a good move by Labour to force the vote, in a manner that stopped the Tories from abstaining for fear that had they done so the papers would have to be revealed.
That they have voted to block the release, IMO, shows that they have something toxic to hide, and someone to protect.

They lost yet another Brexit vote in the Lords today as well, this time about not creating a hard border between Northern Ireland and the a Republic.

I'm guessing you've not notice the current trend of everyone and their mum comparing the other party to nazis or the current anti Semite scandal etc.

Due to the current era of populism and information technology people are able to find historical data to support whatever hair brained idea they want but that doesn't stop history from being any less relevant if properly researched and it still carries a big impact.

Humans themselves haven't changed in 1000's of years and still react the same confrontational way to resources running out etc. A lot you can learn.

The current trend? This has been happening increasingly for the past century. Since the 90s it has gone into overdrive where suddenly people jump on a cuase because it suits their agenda. Totally agree with you r.e. the use of this stuff to attack Corbyn but that isn't to do with history because they aren't actually comparing Corbyn's clique to Hitler , they are picking up a historical event/period and pretending they believe it.

The problem affecting Jews didnt start with Hitler, its persecution thats been repeating itself again and again for over a thousand years all over the Jewish diaspora. its why it affects them so keenly, they know from generations of experience that minorities like themselves are the first to be targeted when the public are out for blood. you can say that the politicians don't really care about that if you're that cynical. but the Jewish population certainly do and so do some of the wider population which is why its become a large talking point that politicians are addressing.

I am not saying the politicians don;t care. I am saying they are utilising the cause that they do care about and blurring it intentionally as a way of attacking Corbyn.

There may be some things that politicians don;t care about and use as a tool to advance or get one over but in this distance they are quite happy to use it to attack Corbyn who I think probably cares more than most of those attacking him on this issue.

I think there are also people in or around the Conservative party jewish and non jewish who are equally happy to utilise the cause for other reasons. This is very often WHY these things are not dealt with. Because rather than deal with it they don;t want it to be dealt with as they would lose their weapon of choice and have to find another.

Strange old voting form this time. It had 4 parties on the left (Tory, Labour, Libs, Green) and then 4 empty boxes to the right. So I guessed it was a test to complete the last one. U K I P. Did I pass?

I voted Green BTW.

Reactions: The Ides of March
Looking at the results last night, the seats gained by New Labour, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats were at UKIP´s expense. Here we are with the two major UK parties that are supporting some kind of Brexit, which just goes to show how out of step they are with their counterparts on the continent. Even Spain´s right-wing PP are supporters of the EU.

This man is an absolute moron, if guns were freely available in this country then there would be lots more people killed in London every year.
It is illegal to carry a knife, but is much more difficult to police that obviously, but having guns is not going to magically reduce the amount of murders...<doh>
How many mass killings have there been in schools in this country in recent years then, Mr President?

Law has little to do with shootings in America, the vast amount of shooting s are committed by criminals with illegal guns. This week from Monday to Wednesday in chicago, almost 40 people were shot, not by NRA members, not by people with legal guns, but buy criminals with illegal guns, yet nothing from Black Lives matter or the likes of CNN, drugs are illegal but still available. in Britain there are not many firearms available in the first place so they are hard to get and expensive. Most knifings are scumbag on scumbag but a lot more innocents are hit by the average wannabe gangster with the spray and pray drive by . The only way of stopping the problem is by police stop and search, which will of course get every SJW crying from the rooftop, or really long jail time for people found with knives

What made me laugh was the the NRA convention was a "gun-free" zone. But, but, but, don't the NRA and most Republicans think that gun-free zones cause all the shooting deaths in schools because there's no "good guy" there to shoot the "bad guy". Hypocrisy at it worst.

To me Owen Jones was just this naive but passionate young guy who writes for the Guardian - sometimes he's on the ball, sometimes he loses the plot a bit. Which is surely fair enough, him being so young.

Having recently become aware what a hate figure he has become for the right, and how desperately the Tory press try to demonise him, I think I may have underestimated the guy; he must be really onto something, to get the rabid right in such a lather.

I think, like Corbyn, Owen Jones scares the right, because he says it how it so often is.
I also think, if he were to go into politics full time, he would scare them even more, as he would have a lot of support from the young and the LGBT.
If the Labour Party has any sense, they will be discussing this with him as a potential long term replacement for Corbyn.
