Have we become immune to Donald Trumps outrageous behaviour?

He blames Obama for the relocation and cost of the US embassy when it was George W Bush - Fake news? Then he says 'Why are we having all these people from ****hole countries come here?' when referring to El Salvador, Haiti and certain African nations.

There was a time we would have been raging about this all day. Now I just think, there's Trump being an arse again. From an outsider looking in perspective, he's just a huge embarrassment.

trump said something in a private meeting (although not confirmed) that is somewhat crass, but he does have that brain fart in him. he has never had to hold his tongue in meetings and made (if confirmed) a mistake in his use of words. he clearly wants a merit based immigration policy, just like many other countries, its plainly clear that a small fraction of the population from these countries would pass a merit based process, it clearly pisses him off that these people could win a lottery and then start bringing over family members. its not racist as a lot of press claim, its kinda like a people writing on here that portsmouth is a ****hole, its directed at the city not the people

He has a long history of racist statements. That is one of them.

And as someone in the country whose merit-based immigration policy gets cited the most by Trump and friends: our merit-based immigration policy (and the Skilled Worker program is not the only means to immigrate to Canada) is often detrimental, given that we're desperately in need of people outside of a few major cities. Nova Scotia commissioned a report a few years ago concerning the means by which we can prevent an expect (steep) population decline and resultant economic malaise, and the headliner was that we needed immigrants. Lots of them, and not just people with degrees, either. Unfortunately, the provinces don't set immigration policy, and we haven't been able to inveigh upon the federal government to loosen requirements for, as an example, people bringing over family members.

He’s just a rich, crass man with no class or humility, who has bought his power. He’s almost a standard bearer for a lot of today’s society.

Very true, but if you are looking for the best and the brightest to come to your country and enhance your country you do not go looking in Congo or Haiti, the reference to Central American coutries is because of gang crimes. Is it so bad to try and make your country a better place by bringing in educated people that speak the language and do not want to just sponge off the state? Its like Southampton at the moment, we need to bring in players that will improve the team, so we look at teams that are better than us for players that can not get into Barcelonas first team. We do not go to non league clubs offering contracts to 100 players hoping that one will be OK. It makes sense for America to look at European countries as the standard of education is higher, a lot can speak English and a lot have professions that are in demand, it has nothing to do with race
 
That's already the case. Immigrants from Nigeria not only are more educated than the average native-born American, they achieve higher incomes in the US.

Part of the racism is in the belief that people from Africa or South America are necessarily poor, uneducated hovel-dwellers. The other part is in the belief that the ones who are poor, who have in all likelihood grafted for every dollar and meal they've ever had, are going to 'sponge off the state', as you put it.

There is a young lady on Facebook called Candace Owens, whose parents were from Nigeria. Very interesting views, in one conversation she talks about her parents and how Nigerian families really push their kids to do well.
With regards to welfare I strongly believe that people wishing to move to a different country should show a minimum bank balance that will support them for a 2 year period esp if they have no trade ( being able to work hard is not enough) and can not speak the language. They should get nothing from the state except basic health care.
I live in Colombia and Colombians get nothing from the state except education and health if they are not working. I employ 6 women and included in their package is added healthcare. Most countries are like this, which is why people Target countries in the west because of all the handouts

We already have immigration controls from outside the EEA that take into account income and work/skills/english. If you take away basic benefits and support then you just have people who could be productive members of society on the street, growing in resentment, without the support to get back into work using up state funds for health benefit etc. We deport people if their work visa runs out anyway.

People don't make all the effort of getting Visa's and coming over from the far side of Africa and South America because they are lazy, they're clearly happy to work for a better life.
 
good for them, if you take away the benefits then you take away the incentive to come to the country unless you are a person with skills that can get you a job and hopefully build a better future for yourself. With regards to being on the streets, that's just silly, people go to Britain with a return ticket, and if they were only allowed into the country with a certain amount in a bank account then they would have that buffer if they could not find a job. My background is restaurants, working in restaurants in London the staffing is about 90% foreign, good hard working people looking to make a better life, not a problem, good for them. Britain does not need foreign looking for handouts, frankly there enough Brits that do that already

I'm confused at what you are trying to say. As i said, they already have income checks on coming to the UK. most of what you are asking for is already true other than its income, skill and job based rather than plain how much money you have in the bank as thats how the world works. People can't come to the UK from outside the EU without a solid income, skillset, job offer etc. Thats how they get a visa and why it takes months and costs hundreds/thousands. Unless you are talking about refugees which is a whole different issue. People under immigration control can't get benefits either.

I thought you were talking about removing rights from people who were already here.


edit: Also, you in no way take away the incentive to come to the UK by taking away benefits. If that was true we wouldn't have the problem of people coming here illegally who never register with the state and don't receive anything.
