Not at all. I would describe a lot of my ideals as left leaning, I did put hard left to try and differentiate!

But socialist ideology always ends in the same place. So you all are a band of extremists.

    Anyway, I digress.

This country is a joke tbh. Why have we wasted all this time. His background should have been released straight away. What a waste of taxpayer money, media coverage and just general time.

I’m glad he’s dead and I hope anyone else that’s a career criminal gets the same.

Oh come on Os, I know you've been a bit on the wind-up recently but that first sentence is hyperbolic at best, and in reality is nonsense.

Why on earth would Labour send volunteers to help with the Harris election campaign? Just stay out of it. Obviously they want a Harris win which is completely understandable but that is bordering on election interference. No need to get involved at all.

Labour haven’t sent volunteers to campaign for Harris. Some Labour Party members have gone to the US in a private capacity

Well those members need to be suspended then booted out. It's unacceptable to interfere in any way.

Just seen it is actually legal for them to go and campaign as private citizens. But as members of the party currently in power in the UK it does raise questions whether they acted on their own or were encouraged to do so by a certain Labour MP.

Think you’ll find this whole thing is what the Americans call a Nothingburger tbh. And it’s certainly nothing new. Conservative party members have campaigned privately for Republicans too.

Meanwhile, isn’t sitting MP Nigel Farage out there touting for Trump? When he should be working in Parliament on behalf of his constituents.

I think you need to read more about this non-interference by Labour and consider Johnson, Farage and others from the right here and elsewhere relationships with Trump and co. American attempts at political destabilisation and regime change are many and well documented.

They may be blowing it a little out of proportion but that (now deleted) LinkedIn post from Labour's Head of Operations was extremely unwise. If you're in a position like that, drumming up support for volunteeers to go over and campaign is not a good idea. That post started this whole row in the first place and has forced Starmer to come out and say they are acting on their own. I'm sure Labour members have volunteered to campaign in previous elections but I doubt anyone from Labour posted on social media trying to get more people on board.

Oh so because it's Labour it can be just swept under the carpet? I've long said Farage is a twat so not sure why you've brought him up. And yes I'm well aware the Tories are hardly whiter than white when it comes to political stunts and general ****housery.

I certainly don't want Trump to win in a couple of weeks, and nothing illegal has taken place here, but it's all about perception. If this Sofia Patel hadn't posted what she did on LinkedIn then I agree, this would be a total non-story. But she did and because she holds a senior position in the Labour Party, it comes across like Labour trying to interfere. Very poor judgement on her part - especially because Starmer could well have to work very closely with Trump over the next 4 years.

Historically this is a completely normal thing that goes on, the Conservatives have done the same with the Republicans (I’m not sure if they are in this election, but I would have expected so), Labour have done this with the Democrats before and people from the US and other countries have come here to do the same.

Instinctively it feels a bit ‘is this wise?’ But it is another instance where we are holding Labour to a higher standard. The Conservatives have literally had a former PM endorsing Trump whilst in the US, while the Conservatives were in government and it got nowhere near this coverage.

As for Trump I don’t really think this will make a difference to his approach with the U.K., if his hypothetical Presidency is hostile to a Labour U.K. government they would have been anyway, if he is indifferent he would have been anyway. This is just his latest battering ram.

My first post on the matter was just after I woke up, and I had just seen the headline on the BBC and not read the story. So that post is before I actually looked into the story. Now I'm aware that party members from Labour, Tories or whoever go over every time to volunteer. Like I said in other posts, it's the social media post (shock horror!) that has blown this up. You've got to be careful what you post, especially if you're Head of Operations!

I see loads of dangerous prisoners posting on social media how happy they are with labour after being released.

Labour - the party of stealing citizens money and crime. Well done whoever voted for them.

There is absolutely no difference between an MP abandoning his duties in the UK to appear in US politics and some Labour Party members going over to help with campaigning. None at all!
