It shows up what a worthless farce the honours system is that `the honours committee` (whoever they are) sought fit to recommend her for a CBE in the first place. And shame on Vennels for accepting it in the first place, when the scandal had already been established for many years. I`m morbidly fascinated to see how performs under oath, as an ordained vicar.
The interesting thing about US politics is that when Trump was in, every day the news had some (usually ridiculous ) story on US politics and what Trump had said/done. Since Biden, we hardly ever hear anything unless it is real world news. Strange.
I saw the Echo reporting that Southern Water were looking to increase by 91% by 2030, which prompted me to check my latest water bill, here in Spain. I pay quarterly and my latest 3 months cost me a few cents less than €75. For that I shower at least once a day and the country gets to have a record high number of blue flag beaches, totalling 638 this year.
As a sad old git (and ex professional people watcher) I've followed the live broadcasts of the Inquiry with some interest over the last few weeks. My guess is she'll (as her great chum the Company Secretary did yesterday) mix selective memory, denial and fantasy in equal measures. Oh and be "outraged" at the suggestion they were not acting with total integrity. The standout issue for me is how thick (though crafty) many of these overpromoted people were. Many appointed without interview to lucrative posts paid by us, seemingly because they were ex colleagues or went riding with another excecutive. Government was of course also involved (all partys inc Libs & SNP), so expect more smoke and mirrors.
Under questioning, Paula Vennells has burst into tears, and she is 'Truly sorry'. Oh, the poor mite, what a pity. Still, I'm sure that everything was someone else's fault, nothing to do with her
BBC now running with Sunak telling cabinet at 4pm that he's going to see King Charles to dissolve parliament and call an election. Expected election date of July 4.
This isn't to agree with SotonOldBoy. The truth is I don't get involved in US politics, but what some don't seem to realise is that he actually lives in the US. Whether he is right or wrong, being closer to the action than any of us on here surely gives him a different perception that he is quite rightly allowed to voice without being jumped on?
What scares me is me ! I said to MRS J yesterday , that it wouldn’t surprise me if the conservatives got back in with a coalition gov with LibDem . There seems to be a little bit too much positive stuff coming out of the woodwork . And that + what I have written below , makes me think IT COULD WELL ACTUALLY GET BACK IN Those poor souls who had the blood transfusions all of a sudden getting ( overdue imho ) . Inflation rate falls . Price rises returning to normal . etc etc etc . All this + the power of our ( Conservative favouring ) press + the amount of gullible people =
Tories will be decimated. This will be a bloodbath. Only the fully indoctrinated right wing press reader has any sympathy left for the Tory party.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to vote, move into my new place at the beginning of June so don’t expect I’ll have to register. I could be completely wrong though
I am not traditionally a Labour supporter, but I will be for this. There is no way I can see our most famous Saints fan still living at No10 on July 5th.
