Andy Lloyd-Webber has stood up to the lying bastards and got his and other shows on the road.

Well done to him. Let us hope others do the same. Johnson only gets away with his crap because we let him. Stand up to him and he backs down (unless of course your French but then he is a ****ing Norman and they were all lying bastards).

I watched the programme and it was good to see Peter looking so well, and as articulate as ever. He really does have an encyclopedic knowledge of the island of Ireland, but more than that, he is able to separate the political bluster and misinformation from the true facts and present a fair and unbiased point of view. Much of that has gone from today's journalists and presenters but thankfully men like Peter are still around, telling it how it really was, and is today. I put Peter Taylor in the same league as John Pilger. Both are able to delve into and explain extremely difficult situations in an understandable manner, clear of any sensationalism.

I love the way Peter managed to show the humanity in the conflict, and how people were able to come together when the opportunity arose. Do thank him for devoting so much of his life to help portray those involved in his documentaries as human beings. I don't know if it has ever been mentioned but I would not be at all surprised if his documentaries were a contributing factor in the peace process. Making so many people aware of the day to day life of those suffering so much must have added to the pressure on all sides to reach an accord. A truly remarkable Man.

I read somewhere that the Queen actually quite enjoyed talking to Boris at Buckingham Palace, in a room on their own, as Boris couldn't refer to any of his sycophants when the Queen asked him why he (OK, the government) had done something. Now all contact is via phone (would the Queen use Zoom?), Boris can surround himself with people willing to put words into his mouth. Only words, I'm afraid....

Peter says he is now a Saints supporter for life, so that's a job well done all round!

He'll learn to deal with the elation and despair that comes with being a Saints supporter.

What's even more interesting is that it wasn't a seat where the Lib Dems/Labour were losing because they were splitting the vote prior. Tories have won a straight majority in every election since its creation. So it isn't left/center support coalescing around a candidate, it's a straight-up exodus of Tory voters.

Massive, now let’s get talking about an anti-Tory electoral pact. Pretty please.

Chucking a bit of local politics in

Has anyone been reading about this new Tory Council removing the pedestrianisation of Bedford Place?

There is a petition of over 6000 people asking for it to remain a closed road, however the council has opted to refer to a closed petition run by the council which came out 24-18 in favour and so ‘the will of the people’ is to reopen the road.

Good to see they are making a swift impact on the local area by taking a sledgehammer to probably one of the most thriving parts of the city right now, local business will be damaged by this decision, something I thought the Conservatives were supposed to support?

I don’t think this particular road closure has really had a negative impact on traffic in the area and there isn’t really a shortage of parking available as things are, there doesn’t seem to be any logic to it at all.

How did that particular part of the city vote? It is awful that a commercial seaport, a city with two universities, a city that has had an economy better than most has ended up with a regressive city council. I would hope that Southampton could be more like Bristol.in its outlook. What is the reason for this disparity?
