Short sighted? Once in a very blue moon a different team other than than the wallet wavers have a rare opportunity to challenge at the top table. I believe with 2-3 more additions to the Saints squad that rare team could have been us. MoPo created a good team and an exciting looking team, just for bloody once it was exciting following my team. With the team's manager leaving and all of the belief he instilled in Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, Rodriguez, Clyne, Chambers, Scneiderlin etc most likely evaporating with his going, why do you think being bitter isn't really an option?
It's not the first time Spurs have pissed on our bonfire, Hoddle was doing pretty good for us until Spurs waved the money, our captain (Richards) then went with him, I'm pretty sure Lallana or someone else will follow Pocchetino to Tottenham also.
Its a football fact of life those with money will always on average dismantle any threats to their dominance.
Poch leaving has simply paved the way for the dismantling of a team that could/would have threaten the 'big' teams.

Pissed on our bonfire? I like that expression, it's just cheered me up. When I think back I can think of two very successful signings who have come from Saints to Spurs, one Martin Chivers and one Gareth Bale. It seems that signings from Saints do well for us and I hope that it applies to the coach as well. Let's see. Now Pochettino could have said no couldn't he so don't blame us.
If it makes you feel any better, sa1nts, your complaint could have been made by us towards Real.
It remains a valid point. I think it wasn't one year you needed, but two, to give the top clubs a run for their money, but all the same.

Happy with the appointment, admittedly not my first choice but still someone I feel very excited about.
A 5 year deal suggests Levy is looking for stability now, we have a young-ish squad with a few good youngsters coming through and we need someone to oversee their development. Also goes with the idea that perhaps the starting of construction of the new stadium may well finally be commencing, it was always thought/ implied that we'll need to reduce transfer spending while this occurs and so giving Poch a 5 year deal at a time where our academy finally seems to be producing some talent again just seems like the early signs of the plan being set in motion.
Here's hoping to a enjoyable Poch reign which hopefully can have some success with silverware.

It would have been interesting to see how Avb done in England with a team like saints, obviously speculation but Pochettino could just be another Avb, another Ramos. Both Ramos and Avb's teams where famous for their high pressing game etc. Pochettino just has the benefit of coming to England and doing well at a club with low expectations. But that doesn't mean he is any better suited a bigger job (in England) then Avb or Ramos.
Actually all fans including Saints fans have high expectations. And those expectations were absolutely through the roof for next season. Were.
They still may be, Neil Lennon is looking for work.
Just remember a manager can do a decent job at saints and not feel like they have to do something special to be accepted, thats why its easier to settle in and go through periods where the team doesn't perform. With us, he won't get that chance and will be under intense pressure from the start and throughout his time with us.
Thats one thing that will never happen, alot of ex players have stated that they hated him during training (1 said players need 2 hearts to complete his training) yet the training is always different and they can see the changes to thier game really quickly.
All depends on whether your players buy in immediately. You have the personnel to do it, probably to do it much better than we could because you have the pace to exploit those moments of transition after dispossessing the opposition, and your defense is well and truly used to playing a high line. But your players are going to have to want to run themselves into the ground chasing every ball and committing to challenges...it became apparent to Saints fans that it was working when we started to see Lallana and Rodriguez throwing themselves at defenders to win the ball and turning it into chances. If your flair players are so willing, you could be deadly. If not, it could get ugly.
Reasons to hope Poch will be the right choice:
1. He's come closest of all the likely candidates to having success in a similar situation to the one Spurs are in. He got a young, talented team to overachieve in the PL.
2. His team played attractive football.
3. He's a fitness enthusiast, so the team may play both attractively and hard, which may buy him some extra time. May.
4. He's proved his daring by taking the Spurs job.
5. He's coming from Southampton. The last two prominent figures we got from Saints scored the goal that got us into the CL, and the unforgettable goals in it, respectively.
6. He's Argentinian, and seems to be, as most Argentinians are, strongly influenced by Bielsa, who I've thought for a while would be the perfect manager for Spurs if he were younger.
7. He's Argentinian, and therefore has as much chance as anyone of talking Lamela off the "Lost" island he crash landed on after getting on that Malaysian Airlines flight. We can only hope he doesn't come back as one of "The Returned" zombies.

Don't get too disheartened fella, the board know they've got to find someone who can replicate the 18 month Poch had in charge. We know all too well what it's like to lose the best assets at the club! It's a pretty frequent thing with Tottenham!
Frank De Boer is supposedly leaving Ajax for an unknown destination (if u believe reports). Who knows? Perhaps saints could be a good move for his career...
It'd be so spursy for us to pinch your manager, then you lot replace him with one of our other candidates, and end up finishing above us!!
