**** sake, we did the double over Saints last season and we were PONY. What is Levy thinking?
In 3 games against Spurs, MoPo has been the losing coach everytime

Manahers usually have coaches run training etc.
Coaches run training.
SAF was a manager but he didn't get involved much with training the squad day to day.
MoPo is a coach so will be more involved with training and probably less involved with signing players than a manager would be.

Fair comment.
All I know is that Rodgers is our manager, but he's out on the field coaching on a daily basis. So for me the terminology is a bit misleading.
He's your manager, that will be in charge of coaching basically![]()

Fair comment , only going on info we got when he became our manager ok ?
Am pretty certain there was a sale of the best players though .
Just main point was none of us followed his career and in reality we know very little about his potential as he has had two jobs and is only 42. He may turn out to be a brilliant manager, or it may have been the case that Southampton (and that squad) where a good fit.No worriesJust main point was none of us followed his career and in reality we know very little about his potential as he has had two jobs and is only 42. Many fans on here say Martin Jol was brilliant for us, which he was, but he was crap at Fulham. Some managers are just a good fit and thats why we aren't sure if Pochettino is the right choice.
Strange to see the negativity regard Poch on this board. As a Saints season ticket holder and a fan since the mid 70's, he has had us playing the best football I've ever seen us play. Southampton were last season's surprise package in the PL and were an example to other "lesser" clubs that the Big Five clubs need not be feared. The calibre of players he acquired such as Wanyama may not have quite achieved the heights of some of our home-grown talent, but I think he know quality in the transfer market when he sees it.
This is an extremely good appointment for Spurs - a team that constantly underachieves and then seems to press the suicide button whenever the club appears to be heading in the right direction. Although Spurs did well under Redknapp, this is probably the best "Spurs fit" for manager since Hoddle as the way that Saints played last season is exactly the style of football that Spurs fans expect. Poch will be certain to raid Saints for some of our better players and whilst I don't think that your are really of the kind of calibre for players like Lallana or Shaw who are destined for greater things, I would expect you to pursue the likes of Schneiderlin, Chambers, Rodriguez and Clyne.
Without doubt, this is really sad day for Saints fans and the pretentions of being a "big club" are swept away by the whims of another team but I think Poch has the possibility to raise Spurs to a Top Four place - I can't see you breaking the monopoly of Arsenal/ City / Chelsea. You should easily be able to eclipse the likes of Liverpool and maybe a struggling Man Utd. If I was a Spurs fan, I would be elated.
Gutted as a Saints fan.
I hope whoever comes in does well for you.I think Cortose (sp?) was a huge part of Pochettino's early success at Southampton - as soon as he left Southampton looked a shadow of themselves.
Time will tell. A gamble for sure, but I think it might just pay off if he's given at least a whole season.
A five year contract should mean he will scrape through one season, maybe a year and half if he's lucky!
