One of them may have been but they, or he, wasn't dismissed for anything that happened then. The dismissals came about following a through investigation by the club and an independent one carried out of behalf of the Premier League following more than one complaint, from other clubs, about the state of our pitch. It did not meet Premier League standards and regulations and procedures set down by the PL regarding the maintenance and how to prepare a pitch had not been adhered to. Those responsible were dismissed. The case then went to the Courts for unfair dismissal and was thrown out.

They weren't sacked for the state of the pitch, one was sacked for working as FC kit man, while he was supposed to be working for the SMC and the other was sacked for allowing that to happen.
City admitted they had been sacked unfairly, but claimed they shouldn't get compensation due to the reasons for the sacking and the court agreed.
Wasn’t there something about materials when City found out that we were ordering more stuff for the pitch than Newcastle were paying for their pitch and 6 training pitches? Or was that a separate case?
Nit picking a bit here pal? How did the above come about then? By chance? Or was it the Premier League investigation into the state of our pitch which uncovered the wrong doing? An investigation prompted by other clubs reporting it? You've also forget to included the bit where the ground staff were getting paid to prepare the pitch after a rugby league game, claiming they had done it, when cctv showed otherwise and the bit were the club were ordering and paying for more fertilizer etc than Newcastle United who had about a dozen training pitches to look after. Wasn't the appeal for unfair dismissal funded by over £40k of public money raised through a crowd funding page?
When you think our pitch was a contender for pitch of the season it makes you realise what others were like.
That came about after City had played a pre season friendly against Brid Town.They were impressed with the pitch and Leeds United had said that was the best pitch they had played on pre season and better than many they played on during the season. City asked how much they spent on materials. They were amazed at the difference in costs. This made them delve further and as you mention they contacted Newcastle and found out the vast differences. Makes you think when Brid Town’s pitch was looked after by one bloke, a City fan who died young and whose son still goes, as a labour of love part time as he had a full time job with the council.
Man City won the title playing on this pitch the season before. Renowned for free flowing passing football with Lee, Bell and Summerbee. Didn’t seem to hamper a player like Greaves either. And that pitch was better than the Elland Road one and the Baseball Ground where both those clubs won the title.

It's been a variation of a hybrid pitch since the stadium very first opened. It was one of the first if I remember correctly
If the pitch works cost £1.5 million the summer just gone they might need to delve again .
It's an awful lot of money for the pitch to be in the same state as previously

In this day and age, with everything available to clubs, there just isn't an excuse for a club like us to have the pitch(s) we have.
Imo.... Lack of proper investment over multiple years and not having top class ground staff team.
Don't understand why there's an almost perfect square muddy patch in the middle of the pitch.
It's like the opposite of back in the day when grounds would lay some turf mid season. You'd have a square of grass surrounded by mud.

Never really used to take when they patched up the goalmouths and centre circle. Be cutting up after a couple of weeks.
