Problem is that the majority of the support want any new stadium to remain in the city centre. The amount of obstacles in the way because of this is enormous. You can't announce nothing until all of these have been sorted.

I'm not convinced they can be, and I can see a move out of the city centre being announced at some point. Maybe Nun's Moor?

St James' extension is a no goer due to the location, listed buildings, Metro interface problems and the fact that part of the ground would have to be closed resulting in lost revenue (something we can't currently afford to allow). Movement to a new stadium to allow expansion, is a no goer either, as no way will Sunderland (only realistic option) or the Police allow that to happen. All this for limited revenue increase for an additional 7-10,000 seats, and the same limitations within the stadium for external events to be hosted.

No excuse with the training ground though and by all reports this will be announced very soon.
Ah just like reports suggest Margot Robbie is going to respond to my indecent proposal to her very soon..........

Well after Matfen Hall summit, I’m delighted they’ve sorted out the floodlight and corporate paint area. Nothing screams long term commitment like a light show.
There's little point in any announcement on the training ground until planning permission has been granted and every environmental study etc has been passed.

We should be getting an announcement on new shirt sponsor soon (how exciting), if they don't announce a training kit sponsor at the same time, then someone needs sacking because we've never had one yet.

And added more food/drink kiosks so EVEN MORE people will be getting up during the match and making the atmosphere even worse than it already is.

I had to stand up about 10 times on Saturday to let the bloke next to me out, why these people go to the game is beyond me.

Interesting from the athletic - with eddies constant moaning about psr holding us back, they make the point that we’re not exactly straining at the leash in terms of advancements and investments into the club, not at the level a sovereign wealth fund could or should. No challenge to the PL, no training ground, no vast swathes of commercial employees or effort. Maybe the approach they took of softly softly is linked to the sportswashing optics or maybe it’ll all turn out to be right, but it doesn’t feel like the very top is the aim. New paint, new seats, new PA to hear Hey Jude better, new bars. None of it’s related to PSR spend, none of it’s related to success on the pitch and none of it is at an investment level PiF would even notice. Its less than they make in interest in about 30 seconds.

In all honesty I prefer the modest slow approach to building success. I don't want to be a Chelsea or Manchester City.

Yes but there's slow approach and there's sloooowwwww approach. Honestly to identify enough space around the newcastle area that could house a new training ground should not take 5 years. Hopkinson talks about £100m being left on the table that the previous CEO etc didnt bother pursuing. If true that is pure negligence and PIF/Reuben as owners should be demanding progress. Hopkinson is right, until are revenue is at a level of the other top 5 then we cant compete on the pitch with them.

This all goes back to 2030 target. If its an actual target that PIF want to achieve, they need to be hitting the accelerator asap. Actions Im afraid dont show this at all!

Where I live getting planning permission to have an extension to your house can take a year. I presume when it's on a larger scale with far more impacts other than a neighbour may well take a lot longer and that's just the planning permission. Before that it may take a while for a while host of reasons. We've won a cup, qualified not just for a basic European competition but the CL and boot just once. That is not sloooooooooooowwwww.

They're all the same these managers when it comes to excuse. They always say they don't make excuses and then list every possible excuse available..... I particularly like the not being drip fed players one.

Howe is afraid to even answer a bloody question on the clubs objective, even though the club isn't, because he knows if he's bold, he'll find it difficult to use the manual of excuses if things don't work out.

The feeling around the place is dull, and that's because he lacks belief himself I think... Howe won a pot, but keegan knew how to use the fans, how create belief and excitement.... I dunno there something missing on this manager...he's continually and deliberately thrown cold water on the takeover.

Ultimately Howe is what clubs want now though, they don't what characters or managers with opinions.

Wasn't talking about planning permission. Identify land. According to reports that was done and purchased in Jan 2026. 5 years after the take over and it was Sir John Hall's land LOL. Now there's planning permission process. 5 years is mental and it was in plain sight all this time.

It's about desire and PIF grandstand with comments but the reality is they done the bare minimum.
