Considering our total lack of wide players, the answer is an obvious one to me. Play narrow, 2 up top, 4 in the middle. Robertson and Elmo are more like wing backs anyway, they will offer the width.

I don't see the point of playing with wingers when we only have one proper winger in the entire squad.

Diomande has been playing left midfield. Why would hernandez come on for him.also if not dio.Who would we pick to play in front of robertson
Don't play dio anywhere is the answer when you have your top scorer on the bench .
Did you read my post? Change th ****ing formation and play your two best striking options and have a go. Not a forward who will run up and down the left wing getting in players way.

Is it me or do others feel that so far under MP there has been less injuries happened that under SB?

That's why I have been banging on about playing 352, You can then play your wing backs and have 2 up top. I feel it suits the players we have at the moment.

Ok I get it you don't like diomande and you do like hernandez. So we change the formation.are you leaving robertson without a midfielder as in 433.
I would like to see mbokani and hernandez up front too.

And you, having never been sacked by Norwich are obviously more experienced and better?

Do you understand why he isn't playing two up top, yes you may score 2 goals in a game but will probably concede 5. You are in a war to stay in the top league, the aim at the moment is not to get in the CL, it's to gain enough points to be safe.
If you are in a position where you have to go with one striker to make the team more secure then you go with the man who has more chance of holding the ball until backup arrives, otherwise you just end up with wave after wave of attacks against you with no respite.

You obviously have an idea of how you would like your team to play (as all supporters do), but try to take the opposition into account and look at what the manager is trying to do with the squad at his disposal.

I wanted Phelan as manager before the Bruce saga even started, doesn't mean he's not open to some criticism. But my main point is I'd rather have a go and lose 5 goals every match, because when we have a go, we're actually quite good and can hold our own and I believe we would stay up.

When were Dawson Bruce & Moses injured pre or post SB exit.I have lost track.

Also if you only play 11 there is less chance of injuries than if you use all your subs!

The whole situation needn't have happened if they'd just not forced Brucie out for no reason in the first place.

Then they failed to persuade another manger to do the job...

Then they failed to sell the club...

Then they left the transfers to the last 48 hours of the window...

Then they failed to sell the club again...

Then they appointed Phelan as there was no other viable option.

Whose fault is it really?

no one comes out of today well, Phelan has made himself look a right dick shipping 6 against a supposed positional rival, all the players on that pitch have embarrassed themselves, and the lack of investment in genuine PL quality players is once more bringing focus to the ineptitude of the owners.

Just got back from my hols, so trying to pick through the Anfield ashes at the moment.
A couple of questions:
How did Marshall do? - I know that's not easy to judge after shipping 5 on his debut, but stats don't always give the full story.
Also. Did we seem to go into the match with any positive intentions or was it purely damage limitation (park the bus) from the start?

Clearly it was always going to be a very tough game, but for me Phelan's post match comments were almost as depressing as the result.
He said; ""We have to look forward to what's ahead but we've had two disappointing results. We have Chelsea to come and then we go into 'our league' and we'll be judged on that."

I would rather have heard a more defiant 'war cry' from him than those uninspiring words. It almost sounds like Chelsea has already been written off instead of using that game as a spring-board to ignite our season and boost the player's self-belief.

We all know Chelsea will be bloody hard to get a result against, but Phelan needs to instil a more aggressive attitude into the players. We need to become known as a team that doesn't respect reputations and fights like a pack of wild dogs for 90 minutes +.
If Phelan aims for that standard we will have a fighting chance this season.
Too early to judge? Not for me. That was ****ing rank.

Until the ownership situation is sorted we are stuck with him.
No coincidence he signs a deal the same day Bruce goes to Villa or we would have had Dawson in as caretaker manager today.
The clubs a mess of the field and is now one on it.

It's crazy. What have people seen to want him in charge of our football team?

They must be ****ing blind.

People have fallen for the media spin on how amazing a job he has done under the circumstances which is true somewhat.
Also people love loyalty and think he's deserving of his likely 500,000 + wages over 8 months.
