Today summed up the frustration of many over the past few months, handbrake off, formation to suit available players and freedom to attack leads to prob our best performance all season, despite the result. Do that against the 14 or so teams we've a chance against and I won't care if we go down. Notable that none of the **** we bought got a start today out field

And that's a damning indictment of our summer spending, and sums up why it's so difficult to compete this year. Palace who are apparently so **** have Townsend, Benteke etc and our best team at the moment is basically our Championship team from last season minus a few.

There'sa huge difference in how we set up to play a floundering Palace at home to how we set up to play the likes of Soton.
Beaking news: Mike Phelan does NOT get swayed by armchair managers on the internet.

In all reality most of those players were pl players the year before and probably should have been last season too

Exactly.
Yes it could have been easier this season. Kept Brucey and strengthened better and we could have been sat in 7th like W Brom. But, with the piss poor tactics and choices Phelan has made and the negativity of the tactics irrespective of formation means we are second bottom.
This squad is easily good enough to stay up in the worst PL I can remember.

It has taken West Brom 15 years, 3 relegations, and 6 unbroken seasons in the Premiership to reach the level they are now at - and it still wouldn't be a massive shock if they were relegated. Suggesting that all City needed to do was make a few good signings pre-season for us to be in the top ten is a bit daft.

And they had a great steady chairman, not the vicious incompetent ****s we've had to contend with the last 5 years.

How **** were W Brom when we played them? If we'd played like we did yesterday against them would we have won? Yes we would.

Sadly the tactics employed this season have held us back .. we are no world beaters that's for certain but playing in a formation that suits what we have allows us a chance to have a go at teams .. Phelan has been so desperate to include his signings it's bordered on embarassing .. the negative tactics he has used .. the inability to recognise what he was trying to do wasn't working .. yesterday he relented and went back to what the team knew .. and we were rewarded with a half decent performance .. this league with our squad is hard enough without being hampered with crap team selections and tactics .. I just hope after yesterday the penny has dropped with him .. I have to say the only change for the midweek game I'd consider is taking Marshall out of the firing line a bit and give the Jak a go.
Marshall's confidence must be shot at the minute

It took him too long to realise what was blindingly obvious to most of us. FACT.
It's not that simple though is it. We had the chance to play 352 yesterday because for a first time in a while both Elmo and Robertson, our only reasonably practical wing back options, were fully fit. It's ok saying we should attack more, but you do actually need the personnel to do that across the pitch. As soon as we had that, Phelan changed it.

It all went tits up the day that **** announced plans to rename us hull tigers, we had a platform to work from, a financially viable model and a manager most backed, since then the support has been split and the atmosphere around the club increasingly toxic. Had that daft as **** decision never been made the allams could've gone down in history as real heros.
