McShane is a decent squad player at this level and he showed that tonight with one of his better performances for us. Also if for nothing else we should be grateful to him for being willing to halve his wages when the financial sh1t was hitting the fan not so long ago.

it is true. some of your past performances on here have been memorable.. and hence you've gained a reputation.. perhaps sometimes unjustified but the anti Pearsons tirades stand out..
Or more likely get a red card for a clumsy rash challenge that he makes more often than not.
A reputation is based on performances but heavily influenced by personal opinion, hence McShane gets a rough ride but in recent memory Chester has been responsible for more howlers that have lead to goals.
It will take a lot for Chester to get a bad reputation, however the slightest slip up by McShane and everyone will be on his back again.
Luckily for us players couldn't care less what keyboard warriors think of them and just get on with their game.

Am I the only one who didn't think he was that good and that his motm award was more ironic than anything?
I haven't seen a replay, but didn't he completely lose Phillips leading to Amos having to rush out for the 3rd goal, and then fail to come back and help him out dealing with Phillpis having done that?
There was one point last night where he had Delfouneso in front of him, back to goal and without touching the ball Delfouneso turned him and was almost in on goal, Macca had to throw him down to prevent that. The lad means well, but he just attracts mistakes.

This is not hindsight from me, I have always said Macca is too easily made the whipping boy and you will never find a post from me criticising. Far too often our fans look at who did something and then judge rather than the action on its own merits. If Chester did the negative things Macca did nobody would bat an eyelid but when Macca does it the vitriol is disgusting. I have many times made the point that fans always seem to say "as long as they give 100% Im happy" and then they slate Macca proving in one instance that this is a lie.

you've got to love Macca for his effort, but to give him man of the match? Most people feared the worst when he was included and the fact that he wasn't quite as bad as people expected is no reason to give him man of the match. Being able to pass the ball to one of his team mates should be a prerequisite for someone earning his money, the cheers that rang out when he achieved a pass shows that his past record in this respect is not great
I genuinley thought he was our best player. Who would you say did better? Id suggest only Quinn could run him close. Yes Aluko scored a great goal but was really, really poor throughout.
I remember McShane playin an absolute blinder against Watford early on in our first season back in the Championship and thinking he's now found his level after a series of appalling Premier League performances. I then also recall last season at Burnley he was absolutely dire, (or was it Barnsley - I forget.)

He was alright. Seemed to get in the way more than anything, rather than actively getting himself into the right position and making a decent challenge.
What is he meant to have done so well? Bruce made one really good tackle which made him stand out from the other defenders despite them all making mistakes. What did McShane do well?
I admit that that is a hard one to answer. All 14900 people there last night will have a different opinion, however I would say Aluko, Quinn and Simpson would be before Macca in the vote. Simpson had a poor first half but did better in the second, Aluko was a bit up and down but scored and was always willing to receive the ball and Quinn worked tirelessly and was the only real presence in midfield.
I will criticise a player no matter who they are if I believe that they are poor.
Even before we signed Macca I did not rate him, and I certainly didn't want us to sign him. His positional sense for a defender is extremely poor, and he regularly gets caught ball watching, so that the player he is supposed to be picking up is either lost completely, or allowed to get the wrong side.
That is different to me making him a scapegoat though. I don't blame Macca for every error or defeat...just most of them
No you're not the only one. McShane worries me every time he gets the ball. He can either provide skill; or more likely cock it right up. Last night proved how gash he is when instead of standing off and waiting to nip in and get the ball; he just decided to jump on Matt Phillips and nearly break the kids back... and then just smiled about it! A needless free kick; he wasn't that brilliant.
