Wrong about what? McShane had a decent game, made all the more remarkable as he is usually ****e. Fair play to the lad for playing well after being out the side for so long but it doesn't suddenly make him a solid centre-half. He'll still always worry me and if we had Chester, Faye and Hobbs fit he wouldn't be near the starting XI if it were up to me.

With respects, Faye and Chester have been responsible for shipping goals, Bruce said after tonight he's looking to switch things round, so there would be every chance that McShane would get a look in.

This doesn't make him excellent, as his games last year didn't make him horrific, but still don't want Bruce, Faye and Mcshane in defence together, as todays performance showed, another three conceded!

To be honest I wouldnt form an opinion after 1 game. I have seen far too many shocking performances from him to admit I was wrong just yet.

He could play like that all season and people's opinions won't change. Just like when players with a good reputation turn in poor performances but never get criticised.

I think he'd be mad to drop Faye. Fair enough Chester's made a few mistakes this season but was solid as a rock next to Hobs last year so maybe that's what he needs, Hobbs back next to him. Chester, Hobbs and Faye are our 3 strongest centre-halves, I think you'd struggle to argue with that.

Right, I'll agree that tonight he was decent; but him getting MOM was an absolute joke. Aluko, Elmo, Quinn, Oli and definitely Joe Dudgeon who I thought was OUTSTANDING go before him; and even Alex Bruce when he was on had a blinder. He played well; but he still reminds me of a horse.

Completely agree, although I think all three play better as a centre half pairing and not a back three, which I think is partly the reason for the mistakes seen by both Faye and Chester this season.

Hopefully Bruce will pick his teams based on performances and not completely undeserved and fabricated reputations like you lot would do.

Simpson and Olifinjana were '****e' a few months ago. The poor lad was an unfortunate victim of circumstance and I'm glad he put in a top performance tonight.

Paul McShane played quite well , probably our best defender , I'm not sure why he gets applause for controlling a ball and various bits of basic skill though unless everybody is just waiting for him to **** up
I must admit I was more nervous when the ball was anywhere near Faye though , was he injured ? Does he struggle to play 2 games a week ?

A reputation is built on performances, it's not affected by individual performances.

McShane had a good game tonight, he'll probably give away a penalty on Saturday, that's his problem.

Faye, if all our CBs were fit may not have played 2 games in a week. However he does provide a threat from dead balls and corners - something we lacked last season.

McShane is OK in the Championship - not outstanding but adequate.. he'll need a run of matches without errors for me to fully trust him though
