New manager syndrome. It's happened at every club he has been at. Give it 15 games and we will see how **** he really is.

Well he was here 4 years and it could be argued did a good job overall against the background of finance and board level management.

It could also be argued that he didn't depending on what stats are viewed.
He was an average manager at an average club with nothing more than average results.
Off the field though..... well... I can't be arsed going there.

Stats are pretty much anything you want them to be. The only thing that matters is results and final position. Overall with the budgets he had then his achievements are more than respectful, better than average.

Obviously his off the field stuff..not so good.

I think so far, he's done a pretty good job. It might take time for people to appreciate it though.

It takes time to be pardewed it's happened at every club he's been at. He can only lick so many ringpieces In the dressing room before his top teeth start to show

Interesting that most fans of clubs he leaves seem to dislike him.
I remember a Hammers lad coming on here when we finished 5th telling us we'd end up being happy when he left.. As they were when he left them.

Lookout we've got some cockney rhyming boy doing the rounds.

Let's hope there's 10 metres of rain tonight and he drowns.

Lets see where Palace are this time next year before we all start ****ing over 'Pards'.............. when the honeymoon period is over, the new manager bounce has lost its spring, and he starts knobbing his way through the players wife's............... I fancy we will see the real Pardew / Palace.

Pardew will never have the finances at Palace. They are built on yo yo finances so I think, barring any mass influx of quality youth players, he will spend his time fending off relegation. Certainly won't signal the end of a honeymoon period or a sign of his abilities not being up to it. They will just be exactly what he has taken on and anything he manages above that will be an achievement. Which tells you just how badly he wanted out of the pressure cooker up here where he knew he'd never be liked no matter what.

Pulis knew the score at Palace, which is why he jumped. He wanted finance to progress and complete control. They can't allow that as the risk is too great.

There is a perspective to this in that Crystal Palace revenue for the 2013 season in the championship was under £15 million, finishing 11th last season saw the prize money for that position at £74 million, staying in the PL over the next few years will given that they control wages and player recruitment leave them substantially better off financially, there are additional rights packages coming up as well that will further boost PL income. Saying that Pardew will never have the finance at Palace ignores the way in which Ashley has controlled the purse at NUFC and pulled the rug out from under with the sale of the better players and goal scorers that any club needs to compete, watching Palace over the last 4 games they have shown that they have pace, goal scorers and have come from behind in 3 matches to win, something that Warnock couldn't get them to do, yes it is early days but this is a team that finished 11th last season and have some decent players as they showed against Liverpool last season they are capable of competing rather than just being bottom of the table scrappers.

Good point. Let's give him the rest of the season.

Anybody prepared to say what would constitute doing well/badly ? Will finishing say 4 league places above where Place were when he took them over constitute having done well ? Being relegated constitute having done badly ?

What's the consensus ?

For me the main test is always results. i.e. what position were they in when he took over, what position were they in at the end of the season. So if they were 18th, any position above that is positive. Any position below that is negative. If they remained in the same slot then neither bad nor good but obviously the idea was to improve so still a disappointment.
