I remember, not too long after Hughton was chucked, the very next season in fact, I was disgusted to hear this ripple out from the Gallowgate...

E I E I E I O... Up the premier league we go, when we get to Europe, this is what we'll sing... We are Geordies, Supergeordies, Pardew is our King.

A lot of fickle, weak-minded sheep in our flock, all I'm saying. ****ing pathetic the way some of us see-saw.

If someone does well he gets credit, Pardew did well then. Since then he has been poor and fans aren't going to be happy if their team is poor and they feel the manager is under achieving, which Pardew has done since he finished 5th.

But it's a nonsense. It's from hero to zero in no time at all. Why can't people have a little bit of patience and empathy. He's not changed. It's the same person, but as soon as 1-0 starts becoming 0-1 the mist descends. You're basically supporting statistics, not the football club.

Personally, our fans have proven themselves MUCH too quick to heap out praise, and ridiculously fast to get on the manager's back.

Anyone who can defend pardew should take a look at the table of stats ACS posted. We're nigh on bottom of the table in every one of them. That and his personal behaviour are appalling. It's not a knee jerk reaction, it's been going on for many, many months. I'm over the moon he's ****ed off, but dreadfully concerned who Ashley will fetch in.

I disagree Somb.

I think nearly any manager would have struggled with having the heart ripped out of his team everytime we developed, and going nearly 2 years without being allowed to strengthen. The stats are awful, but I don't believe they would have been any better for any manager willing to come in under the proviso that he had to accept that his best players would be regularly sold and he would not be allowed to re-invest the full amount.

But who, of all the other premier league teams, have had as little help from the board? The stats mean nothing if not given the context, and the context is we've all whinged about the funds available in the windows, particularly after selling players.

Fat Sam took a press conference recently, the result of which is still on BBC Sport, so I suggest anybody with a gripe against Pardew the manager look at it. In the clip, he says economists have proven that the final premier league table broadly reflects the capital laid out by each team. Over-achievement is dangerous, because fans get carried away.

Pardew's results are, overall, about bang on where our economic situation is. He's done a good job.

Having a problem with his conduct, fine, but the other gripes are baseless.

when you look at those tables there are many teams with the same points as us
but the standings have been manipulated to putting us at the bottom all the time
psychologically making it look worse than what it is

so not really a true reflection

Got to say I agree with Somb 100%.

Been here too long, and he's a major part of the malaise that has crept into all facets of the Club, from the fans down to the team/management.
It's time for him to move on, he knows it as do the majority of fans.
As to whether someone else would have done better in the circumstances, we'll never know.

Personally, I was keen to see him do well this season and it wasn't until after the abject Surrender at Tottenham that I wanted him to go, which was then topped up by the mackems result.

So, I'm pleased he's on his way, and maybe the Club can move on without as much division.

I think he's taken us as far as he can to be honest. we have some talented players that I think with the right coaching and tactics could develop into a top 6 or 7 team.
but like others have said i'm scared of who Ashley will bring in next. most likely someone nobody wants to p**s us all off for the fun of it.
wouldn't it be great if he installed a top drawer manager and decided he wanted to make us a success? he has the money to do it but it baffles me why he doesn't.

I've been consistent for months in saying my big problem was his conduct.
The only other manager to make me ashamed of his behaviour was Kinnear.

Dress it up hwever you want with stats Somb, the only thing that matters is results and standing at the end of the season. Great season to finish 5th, terrible season following despite mitigating factors, then a top 10 finish and top 10 midway with bottom half squads under a difficult regime. That is what counts. If we are going on stats, then he stacks up well. Popularity, no. Professionalism no. Results? I'm afraid they stack up.
