Got a feeling the exodus is about to start. I thought Reading were skint though, and we got Le Fondre because they needed dosh for HMRC? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...s/reading-fc-bolton-wanderers-leading-7350902 EDIT.......having said that, I just noticed this............ http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ess-scotland (Daily Express :: Scotland Feed) Do we really need to improve our offer to the Don given who we've got already in midfield?
Hmmm, £1.5m for Joe might be a good deal. We all like him but he is not a prolific scorer. If still in the Prem Don would be gone but he is a tried and tested performer at Championship level and would ensure continuity. Also, well liked amongst the players. Is there anhything better out there in his role which would not cost us a lot of money?
Would take the £1.5M for Joe as I don't see where he'd force his way in to the team. Agree that Don would do a job as the centre mid workhorse especially if Medel goes. Knows the players around him and the club. We have to integrate enough new faces as it is.
Disagree on Joe, I think he's a great player who has done a good job for us. Would be sad to see him leave as I still think there's tons of potential still there. Cowie is decent back up at most. Cant see us needing him to be honest. Have never been a huge fan.
Agree Jay - Cowie is (was?) a good Championship standard player, but we should have gone beyond that now. One year deal was on the table, but to increase it to 2 years just to keep him here seems a bit unnecessary given the players we have already got and recently brought in for the midfield.
Fingers crossed. 15 goals last season is still a very good total. Add a few extra from the middle and back and we should be a promotion chasing team, on paper at least. I'm feeling optimistic (hopefully it doesn't change come December) that we will be back up next season.
Getting back to this latest Cowie business of offering him improved terms and a two year contract to persuade him to stay, do we really need to? Just looking at who we have, and admittedly Medel will probably go, but have I missed anyone else out in midfield? Whittingham Medel Kim Bo-kyung Eikrem Noone Gunnarsson Mutch Cowie Ralls Kiss Harris Daehli Berget Burgstaller Dikgacoi Unless there's a mass exodus from this lot, I'd have thought Cowie would hardly get a game.
we've made cowie an offer, we can't keep waiting forever. if he was indispensable i'd pull out all the stops to keep him, but he isn't so i wouldn't keep the offer open indefinitely. i think he'd be a good player to keep, but only at the right wage level.
Palace now in the running for Caulker as well as Campbell. http://footylatest.com/palace-looking-to-massively-strengthen-for-next-season/58238
Sorry, but just who is he? http://www.sl10.ng/news/articles/ca...ect-cardiff-city-s-bid-for-tom-adeyemi/167946
FYI - all of Wiki: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Adeyemi Looks a strong, young guy who can hold his own in the middle of the park. Done a season in the Champioship so knows the ropes. Wonder what we offered?
Cardiff City want centre-back Brede Hangeland following his release by Fulham. The Cottagers confirmed Hangeland was to be released on their official website earlier this month, wishing the defender all the best after he made 272 appearances during his time at Craven Cottage. Hangeland, 32, said he was "disappointed beyond words" by Fulham's decision to notify him by email. .. Also, Cardiff City have slapped a £5m valuation on midfielder Jordon Mutch - while reports boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a bid to sign Tom Adeyemi from Birmingham City are wide of the mark. The Bluebirds did show interest in Adeyemi months ago but they did not make a firm offer and their priority now is to sign a central defender. WOL link: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/paper-talk-cardiff-city-want-7363110 Other news.. Liverpool are poised to activate the £8m release clause and win the race for Cardiff central defender Steven Caulker. The 22-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur player is a wanted man following the relegation of the Bluebirds last season, with Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace already holding informal talks with the welsh outfit about his availability and remain keen. But reports are growing on Merseyside that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is all set to move in. The Kop outfit are looking for defensive reinforcements and don't want the possible sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona to be used against them in the market. Rodgers fears the size of Suarez's fee will only inflate the asking prices for their own targets but Caulker is seen as an attractive option because his price is already set. http://www.sportinastorm.com/Premier-League/Liverpool/Reds-close-in-on-defender-/X1Y44Z1776535
Looks like the Don is off then - can't say I'm disappointed though. Thanks Don and the best of luck for the future. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-midfielder-don-cowie-7365512
Maybe wrong, but after reading Ole's quote in the last paragraph, get the feeling that Cowie wanted to keep his options open for longer and had the rug pulled on the contract offer because of it.
Hope Don choses to return to Scotland with Rangers and not a Championship rival. Rudy and Tayls will be big enough threats without Don taking us down a peg. Hangeland would be a good, if short term due to his age, replacement for Caulker. However, Hudson and Hangeland playing together? Could be easily caught for lack of pace there unless we go with 3 cb's and Medel as part of that?
Well it looks like he's gone..........or has he? If you were him, would you jump into bed with 'arry (figuratively speaking of course) when there's a lot of time left in this window for an offer from a better club? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/cardiff-city-accept-8million-bid-7367413
