P&O are said to have about 4000 staff nationwide. It'd be interesting to know what the saving is, nationwide, by replacing 800 of them.
If they were just losing 800 positions then yes you'd think that but no, they're being replaced. How much cheaper can overseas labour be? Although I suppose if they're employing the labour in a different country it might be significant, if that's what they're doing.Guessing they feel it's enough to increase profitability and in turn save the business
Have they made a £100m loss or are their profits down £100m year on year?
Genuine question, no idea.
They made a £20m loss in their last filed accounts, but are only half way through their next accounting year, so nobody knows how much they're losing currently (other than them obviously).
Their owner DP World are making plenty of profit.
Most organisations I have worked for could easily lose 20-30% of the highest paid staff with no loss of efficiency, just by some sensible reorganisation. If you do this first, the lower paid employees realise that economies are necessary. How about the chief executive giving back his bonuses for the last 5 years?
New trend, Scunny fans are saying some of their stewards now carry handcuffs!Sky and BBC reporting security staff at Larne taking crewmen off ships in handcuffs, if true that is a total disgrace.
