Mancinii I'm trying to work out if this is a genuine thread? Good result tonight and a decent preformance but I don't think beating the team which finished third in the Belarusian league (who the season before were in the Belarusian second division) is a realistic way to gauge the seasons expectations. It was a potential banana skin for Rodgers and credit to him and the players for avoiding it, I'm sure there'll be a few British teams made to look like mugs in Europe again this season by random teams we've never heard of. Not sure what response you were expecting on this thread but laying into Lucaas for a reasoned reply is bizzare.
I think it was the sheer childishness of it which made it genius. Mancini, you have genuinely made me laugh. Hard. You ****ing bewt.
I wasn't being negative about the performance! I enjoyed it! I just massively disagree with people who think its an indicator towards how good we are. I remember us losing to Graz AK home then winning the whole tourny. Rabotnicki making Cole, Jovanovic and Ngog look like actual footballers. And Spurs smashing pre season only to take 2 pts from 8 games.
I only caught the last little bit... as Adam and Carra were coming on... so whether he slowed us down or not I can't tell... seemed to be playing with energy. Hard for me to judge our performance- The Belarus looked dead and lifeless and not even trying by the time I caught the match. We were playing with a swagger at that point- and might as well be competing against wax dummies (no offense Everton). The lowest of the low in the Premier League will look better than that... My 5-aside team could destroy a team of 5 year olds with pinache- but it wouldn't mean we would beat Barcelona... ... that said, can only beat who is in front of you- and glad we won in style... I remember dark days struggling against minnows like Havant and Waterlooville- so to beat Gomel easily is good.,
Based on his home debut and the games I watches on streams from the US, lets just say "Siggy who????". Seems to be in the same mold, but with more pace than Siggy and a definate bigger aerial threat. Feeling good that we have found another diamond to shine even brighter in our style of play....fingers crossed it continues
@Haslam, spot on, but no doubt he'll try and blame me for abusing him before he retreats into yet another apology thread @swim, sounds promising +10 league goals you think?
Watched him alot last season at Rayo, (as I was following our young Dani Pachecos progress.) and you guys have got yourself a gem there...He was one of their best players in a high pressing/passing side....He will do very well with you boys......(definately one for the fantasy team....shhhhhhhh..Dont tell anybody.)
Possibly, but no chance BR is going to find out the small print! Hopefully, the first thing HJ will do if we look like staying up xmas break, is get all the main guys on new contracts so BR doesn't know our ****e anymore!!
by xmas !! He is definately an out and out attacking midfielder, 10 plus goals, why not? With the increased Sky revenue next year, some would take staying up after 38 0-0 draws, but thats not the Swans way. I fancy us going forward more this year, however it will not be defending from 1 to 11 without the ball...however, 'Chico' Flores looks like steal for just £2 mill so far and a more than worthy partner for Big Ash at the back (strong in the tackle, good playing out and proven to be the fastest player on the bleep tests). Exciting times as always with my beloved Swans
Made a thread to highlight a positive performance. ^^Lucas steams in with some negative **** as usual. Sick of all this doom and gloom from supposed LFC fans. 97% of fans are knowledgeable and make insightful comments, and the others are a bunch of complete to$$ers. rant over.
I know i shouldn`t but sometimes i do, feel sorry for some of the more genuine LFC fans. If they in any way try to post a reasoned or well balanced view about THEIR club/team they are turned on and hounded by the backslappers. It is not just this forum either, it seems from reading a number of posts if you are not blinkered you are not a real fan.
It may not have been against the toughest opposition, but not only did we win, but we won well. Performance and result was key last night and we delivered on both counts. I thought Gerrard's link up play with Suarez was exceptional - I was worried he wasn't the same player but I think having Lucas and Shelvey behind him can only be a good thing. Also, I loved our the fans were signing Agger's name - great touch! Finally, Suarez is amazing. He was literally involved in all of our attacks either through his trickery and skill, or by harrassing defenders into mistakes. Fantastic workrate combined with real ability. My concern is that without him, our attack looks toothless. I still feel we need a couple of tricky inside forwards who have the abilty to create chances out of nothing. Downing has the ability to do this but not the consistency (yet). As mentioned by another poster, someone like Tello or Affellay or A Johnson can really add depth and quality to the attack.
Think this is where we should develop Stirling, Suso and pacheco rather than going out and spending money! Have to use the youth talent or their is no point in having that talent
Hmm I'm in two minds mate. If the talent is there, then it should be embedded in with the stars of the first team. My concern is that the first team is still relatively new and we're going through a tough period. During these times, I think it's best that we stick to experience rather than youth. Also, I personally believe the best time to use the youth is when you don't neccessarily need them. For example - Insua was rotated with Aurelio a few seasons back and he didn't put a foot wrong. But then Aurelio was injured and Insua was pushed in at the deep end and really struggled. This was at a time when the whole team was down and not playing with confidence. It was the wrong envinronment for the young lad. David Ngog is another example.
I don't agree. I think you either make boys of them or you make men out of boys... last year flanagan got hauled off by kenny due to being MUCK. that boy is a tough cookoie and will not make the same mistakes. Sterling and suso are THE two talents we have and they should be pushed. We are not talking about owen or gerrard pushed where their bodies break down but mentally and I agree on the inusa example. Lets not do that, but if you've carroll, borini, suarez, downing, cole and even gerrard up top i think finding time to blood two kids will not be that hard as subs and we either use the europa and carling for this or for giving cole and carroll games. I'd rather force cole and carroll compete for a league starting slot than just wander round on 90k per week and playing games where our paid of young lads could really benefit. then in a year maybe cole can go and we will have a younger guy on less moeny doing more. have to push these kids or end up with just nothing. Oh and N'gog was muck on a stick. i watch every reserve game and he was just a flopper, he had very little talent compared to say n'goo or morgan do and frankly i was DELIGHTED we got shut.
Read the first three pages... will just say that Lucaaas is one of the best LFC posters on this site.
