Ouch.

You do seem to capture my mood 90% of the time HistoryR. Yesterday was crap but did not change too much, except maybe for some people's expectations. Possibly there was too much stewing in the two week break after Man City where we were all looking upwards at the table and talking about Europa League 2015. So it's three wins from ten, do I think we'll get them? Yeah I do, we'll go and beat someone that no one really expects.

Last two teams I saw Saints beat in the Prem? Liverpool and Norwich. It's been too long. :(

Don't think Newcastle are really relegation candidates. They are too good and will get the points needed, as I believe will we. We are about the same standard. We were beaten by the bottom side, but we could have won. We will be better able to judge in a few games time...not rush to judge just because we hve lost 2 consecutive games.

They certainly were Fran until recently when they have been pputting a few good results behind them! We played poorly yesterday we have to accept that and move on.

It's quite common for a team to over play or over achieve when a new manager in appointed, usually in an attempt ot impress. That spell is now over in my eyes, after the international break we have looked a pretty poor side. Like i said, i'm very worried and i think more people should be.

Deep down there are a few who are "quite worried" Olly............However we prefer to stay positive......it ain't over until the fat lady sings as they say. A lot of us will not give in to the "too negative thoughts" until it is mathmatically impossible for us to stay up.

I have always been accused of being a "Happy Clapper" and staying positive through thick and thin.

But I also thought that sacking Adkins was a terrible footballing decision, and would come back to haunt us. Whilst I am not as negative as Olly, I am starting to fear the worst.

With that said, I truly believe we are a good side. We could have got at least a point out of both of the last two games. I think what makes it worse is that we lost to such a negative ****ty team like QPR who genuinely were awful. I do agree with Jose Fonte's post match assessment that we controlled the game and were unlucky though.

A lot of us feel the same way they were not a goood side and did not play any better than us although they were more clinical and "had abit more of the rub of the green" but in reality....that is why we love the game of footy so much....it can be so un-predictable.

Basically, if a manager wants to beat us all he has to do is tell his forwards to close down Cork and Schneiderlin as quickly as possible and we look a bit clueless. I am hoping when we are facing a team that don't have Samba keeping Rickie quiet we will have a plan B again though.

Essentially, supporting saints is never a walk in the park, and constantly throws up more drama than a long running soap, but I wouldn't change it for the world!

COYR

How true is that it is the old Saints coming to the for......!!! We still lack that bit of experience and cunning in the middle of the park although they are learning. They are not being pushed around as much as they used to be.

As a long in the tooth (actually there aren't many left!) Saints supporter, I have always expected set backs, every now and again we seem to need a reality check, the slightest bit of complacency in the Premier will bite you, I hope once again we can react positively to this set back, and come again guns blazing, we are due to give another team a good kicking, now would be a good time.

It was bad Karma to get shot of Nigel and as another scouser once said "Instant Karma's gonna get you"

So I won't be surprised if we have a horrendous run of bad luck and go down on the last game of the season due to some bizarre twist.

Might not be a bad thing (actually, relegation isn't). Might clear the decks of the plastics killing the atmosphere at St Mary's.

I really that we'd do better but QPR played it the way they needed. Park the bus and counter. We always struggle breaking teams down who do that. No difference yesterday. We do much better against teams that want to play football. I don't expect any of the next three to do anything but play. If we don't get much from those games I will be more nervous.

The way I look at it is I would have been happy if we had won yesterday and lost against city, it's still three points. It's just the expectation that has upset people. Rangers were rubbish, physical and very cynical but there tactics worked better than ours. Also they have spent big, and there results haven't been too bad recently. Drew against spurs and beat Chelsea at the bridge. People seem to forget that.

As for Newcastle they spent heavily in jan and seem to be pretty resurgent so loosing to them wasn't that bad

I just hope that MP has a plan b as all the teams seem to have woken upto plan A

It is amazing how a lot of our 'fans' are seemingly hoping that we fail in order to validate their beliefs, it's as though they take joy in us losing a game.

Some people delight in being right at whatever cost. Would never want to see the world through their eyes...as they are miserable all the time (until briefly happy when disaster strikes and they can crow) whereas the rest of us are happy or at least have hope (until briefly when disaster strikes, then we return to positivity quite quickly).

Should be a good game against Norwich then. Lambert v Holt I know who I think will come out on top!

As a very old fan I'd concur that this is normal service resumed for Saints fans. I don't agree that relegation would be an OK thing; it wouldn't be fatal but would be a major setback for Cortese.

Like others I hated the run in to this game and just knew we'd blow it. But this is the bad one. Forget the Newcastle result for two reasons - one was that we matched them and were distinctly unlucky and two because they are a good team. They'll beat a few teams this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win the Europa League.

Now on to Norwich. It's not "must win" but it would be handy if we didn't lose. Then Liverpool - we always beat Liverpool, don't we?

Pardew and Redknapp have each described us a "a good side". So long as CBK's Karma doesn't get us, we'll be OK (gulp!).

The thing is you lose all credibility posting as you do. If we lose a few you'll post loads and feed on everyones depression like some sort of pessimistic football vampire. However if we win you never post and won't touch this forum. You've got to be consistent and not cherry pick your moments/posts.

Looking at it objectively i'd have taken 3 points from the QPR and City home games at the start of the season. Still frustrating though.

The credibility problem comes from the huge amounts of empirical evidence he gets wrong - leave the stats out of your argument, Olly, and you'll be doing a lot better, credibility-wise.

I do feel a bit gutted that we could be responsible for starting QPR's ball rolling, as regards escape from relegation. Textbook Saints, that is - whenever a team needs a helping hand, trust us to give it to them. Even more problematic, the most we ever looked like getting from that game in hindishgt is a draw. Way too many draws in this team so far. I don't expect to win at Norwich, or get anything - am more confident about Chelsea, infact.

Were there any teams that worried about Plan A in the first place, though? We make out it was a golden period. We only beat Man City, on a day where they were absolutely horrendous. Should have smacked Everton into next week on our first half performance, yet could easily have lost if not for Brouc's wondersaves. Wouldn't have been the only bottom half team who would have turned them over when they were in that mood.

I think we'll stay up, but I have a really bad feeling we may be embarking on a downturn and confidence loss at the worst time ever.

What I hate is that we're playing substandard players, and they are costing us points every time. At start of the season it was GKs, and now its our defenders.

Not selecting any posters in particular since I don't memorise previous posts in detail, but what is said about our players' inate ability seems to vary massively depending on whether we have won or lost. Either people change their mind dramatically or certain posters come on here only after a win or a loss. I have always said we are better as a team than our component parts...our defence is not PL standard and this has to be rectified, but when everything clicks the team as a whole can make up for this in the short term.

Never get too high when we win, nor too low when we lose, eh..? Blow your nose, Fran. ;)

I don't think we'll go down - I just hate these periods of not getting points, and the breaks aren't helping. Given our response to time off, if Winter breaks were ever introduced, think we'd be on our way down to League 2! I believe, but I think we will get points where none of us expect, and get nothing where we most expect it - that unpredictability + the fact that we have no real consistent home form + that light on the dashboard and the beeping noise means it's probably time to strap on our seatbelts from here on in...
