Scotland 6 - England 13 A game played in the most atrocious conditions, and should be ignored as a form-line guide IMHO? Things are obviously not too good in the Scottish camp under Greg Townsend? However, I do wish the Scots would stop this damn moaning all of the time. You don't like losing to England, no one does apparently, but you lost and that's the end of the story, so go and down a few beers with your excellent 'chasers'. And stop this senseless abusing of Eddie Jones. Ireland looking very good although they were indeed lucky against Scotland (who beat themselves?), but very impressive against Wales. The young French team were a revelation against England, and now I reckon the title could well be between France and Ireland, unless England really pull their socks up; doesn't look like it though?
Yes, Cyc, this new French squad is looking good. See I put the wrong score in at first, now corrected.
Holy Cow, what a jump by "Mondo"! Since it would seem I have not been following Field Athletics of late, I tried to guess where he came from. I reckoned he was Greek but wrong, wrong, wrong! He is of course an American, of Swedish extraction I believe! P.S. Ah, but "Sweety" is Polish! Poland has always had good athletes, and is a force to be reckoned with in European, and World for that matter, Track and Field Athletics.
Good points Swanny… I do hope that Eddie Jones has one eye on the next World Cup and is trying to build a team for it. Zee Germans are famous for that in the football, well they were, they seem to be going backwards at the moment, and I do think that is something to keep your eye on. The Welsh looked so strong a couple of years back, and looked like they were going in to the World Cup with a great team, it just didn't happen for them. It'll be interesting all the same though...
Yes, Red, in 'that' World Cup, I honestly thought Wales were desperately unlucky not to reach the Final? In the semi-final, they played South Africa pound-for-pound, if that's the right description, but in the end were beaten by that South African kicker. He was simply a 'robot', and sometimes turned around before the ball went between the posts; he was that damned confident. He, more than anyone else, broke Welsh hearts.
The 20 year old sensation Mondo Duplantis is at it again. Last week he took the pole vault world record from the Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie, yesterday in Glasgow, Mondo eclipsed his own mark, and with heaps left in the tank. I don't think this will be the last time Duplantis resets the benchmark. He looked to have maybe 10 centimetres up his sleeve as he went over the bar.
The reigning Indoor 800m World Champion Adam Kszczot lined up in the Glasgow Grand Prix as well.. His race starts 7 minutes into the clip.
Test time for the forum pundits. Below is a Men's 800m over 60s race. Try assessing the form of the runners when they get into full stride. Your choice has to be made before they reach 3 laps to go. I'm going to be a smug bastard and claim the win. Here's a hint, it's all about fluidity of action. Good luck. I used skill.
With the Olympics now in sight, I thought I'd run through the history of one of my favourite events, the Men's 1500m. First up, the Rome win of Herb Elliott in 1960.
