Spain 2 - England 3

I know I must have nodded-off and have been dreaming, because Raheem Sterling scored two goals too.

Good grief, what a pleasant shock! Better watch the highlights on ITV in 15-minutes time, certainly hope it's true! <laugh>

Great result, superbly taken goals by Sterling and Rashford. Good for both of their confidence too. Some kamikaze defending from us at times and what the fook was Pickford doing trying to take on the attacker in his penalty area <laugh>. All Guardiola's fault with his insistence that keepers have to be ball players <laugh>. Shocker of a tackle attempted on Rashford towards the end of the game. 2 footed, off the ground and potential career limiter if he'd made contact. I never understand why refs only reach for the red card when they do make contact. Intent just the same.

18 year-old England international Jadon Sancho opened the scoring for Dortmund and they are now 3-0 up at Stuttgart after 25 minutes. WOW.

Yep, Dortmund look a pretty slick side this season. Erm, regardless of their wealth of available talent, might Man. City have dropped a clanger with Jadon Sancho? They could have easily worked-out a compromise on an early contract dispute, surely?) He has now signed a new contract with Dortmund keeping him with them until 2022. Seems he started off his footballing career (at a very early age indeed) with Watford, I believe.

(Certainly glad he plays for England, 100% Londoner, born in Kennington (as were my own brother and sister) and brought up in Camberwell. <ok>)

What a first half performance by Japan against England at Twickenham today. Magnificent imaginative Rugby from the Japanese team who could have been much further ahead at the break than they were. England at last woke-up in the second half, but Japan gave them a real scare early on in the game. England seem to be a 'one half team' at the moment, and will have to do a lot better in the 6-Nations, regardless of their good performance against New Zealand. The Japanese in full flow are a joy to watch!

I've just watched the replay Swanny, it was a brilliant first half alright. The service from the half was super fast and the way Japan got to the break down in numbers was a delight to watch. And I liked the way they injected their outside backs into the ruck play. It really sped up the game. When Japan get it right, there are very few team in world football who can match them for broken field play. But in the end, it just came down to a good big man beating a good little man. England were too big and powerful in the second half.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are abut to go head to head in a $9,000,000 cash grab. Many of the news outlets are all over it. Anyone could be forgiven for thinking that Tiger and Phil had just invented sliced bread, or maybe developed a new way to use the wheel. But hats off to ARAB NEWS for doing what journalism is supposed to do. And that's to take a shovel to the bullshit, and in the process, allow us to see what lies beneath it.

For the first time in many years it looks like winning your Champion's League group is extremely important. I speak as a supporter of the currently inconsistent FC Bayern Munchen; Borussia Dortmund and Benfica good ---- Fortuna Dusseldorf and Sport-Club Freiburg crap.

If we get at least a draw in Amsterdam against AFC Ajax we will top the group so our possible opponents in the round of sixteen would be :

Probable Inter Milan --- Possible Tottenham Hotspur

One of PSG, Napoli or Liverpool

Olympique Lyonnaise

AS Roma

The wee team from Manchester
.

If however we get 'pumped' in Amsterdam we could face one of:

Athletico Madrid

FC Barcelona

PSG/Napoli/Liverpool

Manchester City

Real Madrid

Juventus

It does not take a f****n' genius to see how important it is for my boys to get a result against AFC Ajax.

Further to my musings above I bet the potential Group winners are shi**ing themselves in case they draw Borussia Dortmund in the Round of Sixteen!

One of the great spectacles of Australian sport, the Sydney to Hobart yacht race gets underway in Sydney on Boxing Day. The hot favourite for the race is the French designed, American built, Australian owned Comanche. Known as "The Aircraft Carrier" due to it's extra wide stern, the yacht is accepted as the fastest maxi in the world. She's a beast. The Jim Cooney owned yacht has won the Sydney to Hobart twice, taking the race record in winning last year. She also holds the world record for the fastest Atlantic Crossing for a mono hull and set a Transpac record for the longest distance covered in 24 hours. She's also had a line honours victory in the Fastnet. Her main rival will probably be the 8 time, line honours winner of the race, Wild Oats XI, who'll carry a couple of new sails, a masthead spinnaker and large headsail designed for upwind sailing in light conditions.

The race down the harbour is a wonderful sight. With the light winds expected for the race, most, if not all of the 5 maxis will head well off shore. Wild Oats XI skipper Mark Richards is of the opinion that the race will become a tactical affair. "The race could also be a bit of the lottery, one where big gains or losses could come as a result of unexpected changes in wind strength and direction." he said.

The 5 maxis lead the line honours betting.

$1:90. Comanche.
$3:00. Wild Oats XI.
$6:50. Black Jack.
$10:00. Scallywag.
$14:00. Infotrack.

Nice one Cyc, we are heading into town this morning so might try and take a gander (I guess the spectacle is like the Harbour Bridge fireworks though - you can’t get near the ****er)
