They said they are sorry on the interview so I take back what I said, that should be enough really. They didn't set out to kill anybody, stupid prank with tragic consequences but the poor lady in question must have had other issues going on if that was enough for her to take her own life.

Completely agree with that.

People seem to be reacting the same as if the nurse had died as a freak result of the prank going wrong. The prank itself was harmless. Unfunny and stupid, but harmless.

She killed herself. No one else did it. It's not nice but I think we need to keep that in mind.

No sympathy for either of the ****s

Take away the nurse's extreme reaction which they couldn't forsee, they did know there was a strong possibility anyone answering the phone & divulging information would be sacked. They therefore thought that an innocent nurse's carear was worth the price of a tacky unfunny joke. Hope the swing turns & some similar sick ****er keeps tabs on them & prank calls them when they need it least.

Caring for a member of the Royal Family, the mother of the future monarch would be the pinnacle of any nurse's carear. To have that belittled & spoilt by a pair of unfunny worthless no marks is inexcusable. The highlight of her carear would of always been remembered for the wrong reasons.

Crocodile tears, **** them both.

don't agree with that. Both of them were very upset.

Why does everyone think it was the DJ's who thought of the idea. Somewhere in Australia there is a producer (or ideas team) who are counting their blessings that the DJ's are getting all the flack

To let a thing like this drive you to suicide, you can't have been too mentally stable or happy with life prior to that. It was a stupid prank and they should feel bad, but with the hate they're getting, you would think they personally assasinated her

Perhaps the nurse felt ashamed, humilated, belittled, ridiculed, used and upset?

Maybe she felt she'd been stupid, gullible, naive, and had let down herself, he family, her employers and maybe even the important patient?

Maybe she didn't think it was 'just a laugh' and thought it was the worst thing that ever happened to her ?

Who knows?

Perhaps in future it's best not to ring hospitals where people are ill and die sometimes, where confidentiality is a very serious and sensitive issue, and where disclosure of information is potentially very serious?

It's sickening to see these weasels making out they are the now the victims in all this - they are alive and have no kids who have lost their mother.

spot on if the silly **** didnt suicide bomb we'd be talking about the fit lass dj and her nice tits.
did the silly cow leave a note blaming them?

See you are in your typical loutish mode again doveston. Your the type that gets Hull a bad name. The nurse was not a silly cow nor a suicide bomber but someone with mental health issues. Not that I would expect a brainless moron like you to understand this. **** off back to the stone you randomly appear from under.

I don't think the prank was particularly funny and was clearly ill-considered, but I can't avoid feeling some sympathy for the two DJ's as intent must surely be a factor in determining guilt.

The real stupidity and recklessness in this stunt though, seems to be in the lack of forethought. I heard an interview on the ABC a couple of mornings ago with a former FM morning station host who has also workrd for the ABC. She was asked whether she ever indulged in these prank calls during her time at the FM station. She said they would sometimes engage in "gotcha" calls but that they were pre-recorded and played back to the "victim" in order to get their permission to play on the radio before the stunt went to air. She said this was in accordance with the self regulation guidelines.

Clearly that didn't happen on this occasion and one has to wonder what kind of management was/is in place to provide guidance to young people who are running these shows. I have to say finally that the general standard of FM radio over here in Oz, particularly breakfast shows, is absolutely, mind numbingly, deplorably stupid. But I guess if there wasn't multitudes of stupid people listening to them, they wouldn't have a program. Maybe radio shows are like politicians - we get the ones we deserve!

On the news I watched last night there was a suggestion that the radio station claim to did attempt to contact the hospital at about 5am before airing the call but without success. The hospital are denying that anyone in management were contacted by the radio station.

The media regulator in Oz is apparently taking action against the station for breaching the rules on 'airing a private conversation without permission'.

I think they should probably just be sacked for being ****e dj's.

I havent read all the previous posts on this but to those offering sympathy to the DJs I say this - as soon as the prank worked the nurse involved was ALWAYS 100% guaranteed to lose her job either through resignation or sacking. She wouldve also eventually been named in the press and her entire career and therefore likely future prospects were ruined. The DJs themselves knew that as they bleeted on their Facebook account "that nothing we will ever do for the rest of our careers will top this".

Of course they didnt expect nor wish for the tragic repercussions but there is no question she wouldve lost her job and they were quite happy to accept that in the name of comedy.

It's disgusting that these two 'crazy' 'pranksters' are portraying themselves as the victims in all this.

Disturbing too that some people buy it......

Sorry Ben, just seen this. Pretty much the exact same point I made.

Not even reading this thread but from skimming over its astonishing.

The prank was nothing more than a joke, and it's that ****ing stupid it's funny, and even now when I hear those stupid ill performed voices I still laugh.

Anyone blaming them because some idiot feel for it, get a grip. People do horrible and evil things by the day that go unmentioned, these pair were just having a bit of fun nothing more nothing less.

And I agree completely with doveston (though his choice of words could have been better) that fit Aussie dj has nice tits.

Watching their interviews, I feel incredibly sorry for them.

It's such a tragic story !

So do I. Its not there fault the nurse hung herself. FFS, phone pranks have been going on for years and when all said and done neither the hospital nor the royal family have blamed the nurse from news reports.

IMO, the radio station execs should take the blame for not doing things properly and getting permission to play the recordings (which under aussie law they need) plus it think that when the dust settles Other factors will have been the reason she hung herself. Its just all to neat to blame this one instance. imo

But yes a very sad situation.

It was a prank phone call. They didn't fly all the way to England and kill her.

Whether you think pranks like these are funny or not is a different matter entirely.

try putting yourselves in their shoes. "portraying themselves as the victims" is a stupid interpretation. 99% of people, except for psychopaths and City Agro, would feel mortified, shattered, distraught to think something they'd done had resulted in someone's death.
