Indeed Stan where his parents first met; as Colgone goes on to say, Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire.

Curiously I'm just back in from a quiz night. Disappointingly we came 2nd, but watched the eventual winners cheat on their mobiles all night long. What is the world coming to?

Over to you mate.

cheatings terrible
luckily none of us on here would stoop to such a low level

Thats the one, title bought from James I. His grandson (I think) got it upgraded to Duke.

I visited one of the family's country piles at Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire a couple of years back, there was some fascinating stuff in there including some very poignant letters from sons of the Duke who'd fought in the 1st World War, I think three of the four sons were killed, the family had terrible luck around that time.

Anyway, this question actually has a link to aristocracy:

Where in London would you find the 'Chanel' logo embossed on street lamp-posts?...

City of Westminster ?

Correct. The 2nd Duke of Westminster had an affair with Coco Chanel throughout the 20s & 30s, he bought her property in Mayfair and France and lavished some of the most expensive jewellery imaginable on her. Chanel has never enforced it's copyright to the logo against Westminster...

I can see that this is holding the thread up a bit. So, a clue - think cryptically and it's easy. If the place of my birth was Daft Row, and most of you have an emotional connection to a certain load of rust - then you will come across the answer.

What links Mo Farah, Ab Lincoln, George Bernard Shaw and Jeff Beck (he of Hi Ho Silver Lining...who I would love to hear tonight please)
