I may have misled by describing it as a sequel - it was meant as an equivalent to Hugo's work but based on characters and scenes from his homeland - Les Miserables was his inspiration for this.

So some bloke copied Les Miserables and thought setting it in another country does not make it plagiarism? I hope all of his royalties go to the estate of Victor Hugo.

Not exactly a copy of Les Miserables, but crucially inspired by it, most of the central themes are there and he intended it that way - a good friend of Victor Hugo who produced a work which actually became more famous than Hugo's work.
 
Just figured Crime & Punishment has a policeman in it and is introverted. Tried to re read it recently and realised my brain is not what it used to be.
Great book, read it some time ago, like you I don't think I have the staying power any longer in everything, not just reading

I think I have late onset ADHD, attention span of a gnat these days. Memory seems ok, otherwise I'd suspect something worse...
 
The staggeringly big desert stretching across Western and South Australia is called the Nullarbor Plain. What does Nullarbor mean?

Arbor is related to trees, so Nullarbor would be 'No trees' which fits a plain...

Where might you be most likely to find a 'yokozuna'?...
 
Well done Roller, ironically, the last three yokozuna all hail from Ulaanbaatar, *****lia, they're suffering the same foreign import crisis we're going through with football...
