Alright lads i was listening to SSN radio and they had a lady from the GB hockey team on who was urging the footballers to play for GB because its a once in a life time experience ect...

191 players were contacted who are eligable and are expected to be there (europeans same time) only 7 declined dispite 3/4 countrys not wanting to be invloved

    of those

Crouch, Bale, Ramsey, Giggs, Becks, Jamie Mackie , J.Cole, Naismith, Forrest, Caulker, Jack Rodwell, J.Henderson, Barry (if he isnt in europe) and Carrol are saying they want to be there

    3 questions for you all...

    1) Do you suport the GB team

    2) Why whould anyone turn it down... (Baring in mind someone from all 4 countries turned it down)

    3) What whould your team be...

    Rules

"The men’s competition will be an under-23s event, but each country will be allowed to select three older players."

Personally, I think it would be a fantastic honour to represent GB at the games.

Team? Difficult, but i'll have a ount, maybe someone can fill in the gaps!

    GK - ?
    RB - Smalling
    CB - Jones
    CB - ?
    LB - Gibbs
    RM - Beckham (C)
    CM - Wilshire
    CM - ?
    LM - Bale
    CF - Sturridge
    CF - Welbeck

Mainly English, and that wasn't deliberate.

For the extra over 23, an experienced CB could make a real difference.

The only problem with the football bit is that the Olympics are meant to be for amateurs and all those mentioned are professional footballers. So if they relax the rules for football why not the rest of the sports?
p.s. Escape To Victory has just started on ITV 4+1 nearly the perfect film War and football if it had a bit of porn in it would be perfect.

Gk could be Gordon if he is back and in our first team (one of the over 23 though), or McGreggor from rangers.

CB not sure as i would like to see Giggs as the other over 23 along with Beckham.

you think Urson Bolt is an amatuer? (to name but 1 athlete that takes part in the Olymipics), the Amateur tag went out the window long ago.

Looking at it through red and white tinted glasses i'd like to see Cattermole along side Wilshire, could be a good pairing.
Not likely though as he doesn't play for a ' fashionable ' team.
Anyone know who the manager is going to be ?

I'm guessing good old saggy chops.

Imagine the clamour in the press if he did well for him to get the England job !!

Probably the best choice with his experience with the younger players.
Normally I'm not too interested in the olympics, apart from the 100 metres, looking forward to this tournament though.
I don't think it's the same with most of my Scottish friends though !!

Looks a good side MM but Pearce won't be allowed any players that are going to the Euros - Jones is almost nailed-on and Smalling and Wilshere could well be in there. If they aren't, however...

    Gordon

Walker/Richards (presuming Fabio will only pick one of them, along with Johnson)
    Smalling
Danny Wilson? (looks promising at Liverpool)
    Gibbs

    Becks
    Ramsey
Cleverly/Wilshere (one will go to Euros)
    Bale

Sturridge/Welbeck/Carroll (one will not go to Euros)
    Wickham

Giggs off the bench as the other over 23!

McClean, I'd love him to go, would cap a brilliant season for the lad, but did he recently switch NI to ROI? If so, can't go..

BBC will have the whole Olympics on, I never usually watch the football though, no GB usually but may make an exception for this tournament.
