As a result of this thread, I decided to go to the chippy for lunch, it was gone 1.30 so not many open locally and I had to go to 53 North in Brough.

It was rubbish, never again.

Really?? Having relatives about 2 mins from there I have frequented it regularly and always rated it as one of the best. Last time I went was over a year ago though so perhaps it has changed.

I like FRYDAYS - anlaby - everything in there is spot on ! , the one near KC at pulman Street is alright too
Rosedales has lovely fish & chips but their patties take on a dark colour and seem over flavoured :/

The Funky fish is OK, but they do use frozen as sea fish, and I prefer fresh.

Funky Fish is probably one of the worst f and c shops ever. I've been twice and each time it was like someone had **** fish and chip shaped excrement into the box. Horrible.

53 degrees north is better on an evening when the owner is cooking.

I have only had a fish from there once, but it wasn't so bad. The best fish and chip shop for me use to be on Hessle high road more or less opposite Pickering road.

Kingston Fisheries? I used to live opposite that, Mum and Dad owned the corner shop on the corner of St Nicholas Avenue. Mike went onto own the Black Horse in Ellerker - They were brilliant fish and chips....

My old stomping ground, Kingston Fisheries from memory was OK, though it was usually after a few pints in Hop pole, so didn't always remember what they tasted like.
