I believe I remember that..I made a point of watching it when you said you were on..
Very seldom nowadays that I get a jazz gig - mostly its the usual pub fare rock pop blues etc - the best drummers I've seen are Jazzers they usually can play rock (and most styles) with no problems - the other way around ask a rocker to play jazz
Don`t know enough about the subject to comment really (not my instrument) but enough to know some of them are a bit special.
Apart from Buddy Rich obviously Bellson and that big band era
