The society in the Fallout universe (at least in the Capitol Wasteland) is horrific (and it was pretty awful even before the bombs fell looking at the timeline on the Fallout wiki). but I guess in a society like that you learn about who you really are. It's like how the settlers in Megaton (I think it is) say "It's not easy to be good in this world".

Yeah, you'd wanna get into Tenpenny Tower. I'd probably join a gang of raiders at first and live in a bombed-out building surrounded by landmines. Eventually I'd probably turn on them, steal all their stuff, and use my new-found wealth as leverage to oust Dave as the ruler of the Republic of Dave. From there I'd build an army to besiege Tenpenny Tower.

I'm such a nerd.

the best strategy in the fallout universe would be to hide behind fawkes as he murders everything.

That strategy falls down at the first hurdle, as you need good karma to get Fawkes (I think). It's never the best strategy to go for good karma ;)

Man I hope this thread doesn't get closed, I love light hearted off topic threads!

Living in the Fallout world would terrify me because every ****ing thing would make me jump. I'd turn my gun on myself if I ran into a centaur.

I'd rather run into one of those than a cazador from New Vegas. Even on a TV screen those things get my heart pounding.

Oh man they're so ****ing fast. If you don't one-shot them you're definitely getting poisoned.

I just finished a replay of NV the other day actually. Did it with Legion.

I started a save intending to side with the Legion and build up all the skills which I had ignored on my prevous save (explosives, melee, energy weapons).....but then Skyrim came out.

Ah Skyrim... buggy as hell but just so good, wasted so many hours on that. Amazing game.

I never finished it. My housemate moved out and took the PS3 with him :(

I see, interesting advice.

In other news I signed up for Ok Cupid, which is an amusing site. One of the main way you match with people is through question but some of them are bizarre to say the least. One is:

"In a certain light, nuclear war would be exciting?" with the options "Yes it would" or "No it wouldn't", what kind of question is that to ask on a dating site? <laugh>
You never know, you might end up dating Mahmoud Ahmadinejad! ;)

I don't think I'd be much good in the Fallout universe. Only time I've ever shot a gun, I was pretty useless though I used to be not bad with the bow. Don't think that would make much impact against a Supermutant or Deathclaw however. So I guess I'd try live in Megaton or Rivet City or somewhere (preferably not Megaton due to the radiation and the risk of some dude from Vault 101 blowing you up) and try to get on with it and if I could to make wherever I live a better place somehow. Maybe train up some kind of band of militia who go from place to place defending the weak (this is on the assumption that I'd be able to actually hit something when shooting unlike in reality) Wouldn't become a raider or anything though, I'd try to remain good inspite of all the horrors of the wasteland!

On the subject of online dating, if someone looks at your profile but doesn't message you or anything, should you take them to be not interested? Or are they perhaps waiting to see if you message them? In real life it's the guy who's generally meant to make the first move, does that apply for online dating as well?

You have to be very careful with dating agencies. You never know who you'll end up with...

If we're talking NV, I'd probably join the NCR. Structure and organisation will do me well, I'd hate to be out in the wastes. Otherwise I'd probably settle down in a community somewhere and try to make the best of what I have, get a shack in Megaton or something. Try to lead a calm life.

I've not played NV, but from what I've seen the NCR seems fairly well developed for a post-nuclear apocalyptic society. Don't think I could live in Tenpenny Tower though, surrounded by all those pretentious, stuck-up people.

Messaged my first girl on OkCupid! Hopefully get a reply! Exciting times. Probably won't though.

Unfortunately one of the other people I considered messaging I've just noticed hasn't been online since February. Mmmmm, though if I was to message her she might get an e-mail informing her. Though I feel bad if I contact more than one person at once, though I guess that's what most people do on dating sites. I feel I should wait a bit before contacting the next person, maybe. Though maybe that's a silly policy.
