Got a (mildly) interesting story on this... At the risk of going all Sterling, the night before my audition I had a dream that I got a question on the Watergate scandal in the audition. So the next morning I asked my housemate to grill me on Watergate. At the audition, which involved 120 people in 8 games of 15 to 1, the guy next to me only got a question about Watergate. I couldn't believe it.

I was ****ing brilliant in the audition, got every question right and won the game. I did much ****ter on tv.

Me Mam was on 15 to 1, did ok, way back in the day with William G Stewart. Her general knowledge was pretty good but I told her that I would have breezed it. I think I'd just won a pub quiz or something and had answered a lot of questions on Mastermind one night so was full of it. So a few weeks later I got a letter from the BBC inviting me to audition for Master Mind. I bottled it obviously and laughed my socks off at her calling me out on it and writing in pretending to be me! Cheers you wonderful old moo up there somewhere! Have a medium dry sherry on me.
