It's such a loss. I was just really getting into music at that age, and last year my wife bought me the limited edition 40th anniversary release of Unknown Pleasures for my 50th, and it was my favourite present that I received (but don't tell her, she spent a fortune on other stuff!)

I've seen New Order and Peter Hook and the Light, both great on their own but there's some really bad blood between them that seems pretty unreconcilable.
40th anniversary edition of Closer on release now, or soon. Apparently Curtis didn’t like the synths on it, described it as like ‘****in’ Genesis’, but Decades still my favourite of theirs.

Saw New Order in a club in Hong Kong in about 1984 or 85. Simply awesome, still a top 5 gig. So many bands owe so much to them.

Oh, dear! I'm afraid Blue Monday is one of those songs that makes me emit an audible groan the moment I hear the intro. I see a ship in the harbour; I can and shall obey. What tripe! Give me The Human League - at least the Mirror Man was a people fan... :)

You need to be taken round the back of the bikesheds and be given a good kicking for such heresy

30 years ago New Order were number one with World in Motion featuring the John Barnes (c)rap, and I was in a state of high excitement preparing to go to Sardinia, temporarily converted to a prison camp for English fans, for the group stages of Italia 90. But first I had tickets for the opening game Argentina v Cameroon in Milan, which was a surprise that absolutely everyone except the Argies enjoyed.

203 years ago, the original Waterloo Bridge opened with a very different skyline...

The beautiful Debbie Harry was born 75 years ago today, her real name was Angela Tremble and I'd bet she was responsible for thousands of teenage knee-tremblers...
